"A good location and a very competitive price will always draw in clients. However, I rarely use Rufiji due to better alternatives in the price range, Lake Manze for example."

OVERVIEW:

This is a good affordable option inside the park, but the lodge’s location near to the Mtemere Gate means that game drives can get very busy, unfortunately. We prefer Lake Manze as the affordable option in Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous).

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The camp lies on the edge of the Rufuji River and provides a number of activities for exploring this beautiful area.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT RUFIJI RIVER CAMP:

There are 11 classic tents. These provide basic accommodation yet come with all the necessities. The suites, however, are newly furnished and come with a private plunge pool. They are a luxurious option, compared with the standard tents.

The communal mess area comprises a swimming pool and huge dining space. The focus in this area is the view, and this is reflected in the alfresco dining that is available in the evening. The service is very friendly, making Rufuji River Camp a pleasant place to stay.

ACTIVITIES AT RUFIJI RIVER CAMP:

  • The activities on offer include boating safaris, walking safaris and standard game drives.
