"Located in the central Serengeti near the Orange River, Pembezoni Classic Green Camp offers fantastic game viewing year round. The camp is great for guests looking for a little more comfort."

OVERVIEW:

Pembezoni Classic Green Camp is owned and operated by Wayo Africa. This company has for many years provided the benchmark in Tanzania when it comes to sustainable tourism. Accommodation is usually booked on a full board basis and the camp offers fantastic game viewing all year round. It’s great for guests looking for a little extra comfort while on safari.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The camp is situated in the Central Serengeti, close to the Orange river in the Kilimafetha area and surrounded by acacia woodlands. It’s on the road between Seronera and Lobo and is usually accessed via road transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT PEMBEZONI CLASSIC GREEN CAMP:

Guest accommodation consists of traditional tents. Each is Meru in style – an outer layer of canvas extends over the inner structure to provide a veranda at the front. Furnished with a couple of chairs and a table, this is a pleasant spot for relaxing and tucking into snacks and drinks while enjoying beautiful views over the river. Entering the tent through a canvas flap, you’ll find a double bed or twin beds, a writing desk, and an upright chair. A separate bathroom tent houses a flushable eco-toilet, twin washbasins, and a classic bucket shower! Each tent is sufficiently spacious to fit one double bed and two singles for families, and larger tents for families are in the planning stage – we’ll update as soon as they become available.

The communal areas of Pembezoni include an airy and spacious mess tent for dining. The camp’s chef prepares all meals in the on-site kitchen, guaranteeing some tantalisingly fresh fare. Shared dining is the norm here, but private meals can be provided on request. The combined lounge and library is perfect for relaxing between safari activities – as well as an assortment of books, there are games, lovely views, and charging facilities for phones and batteries. Outdoor seating is also available. The permanent pools of the Orange river attract numerous wildlife species, not least big game such as elephant and buffalo! You might also spot hyena, zebra, and the local baboon troop wandering by.

ACTIVITIES AT PEMBEZONI CLASSIC GREEN CAMP:

Pembezoni is situated within what’s known as a Wilderness Area, which can be used only by camp guests. It offers expertly guided walks and drives:

  • Walking

    – This is the main thing to do from camp, heading out on a walking safari in the company of indigenous peoples. It’s an amazing opportunity to get to know all the small things on safari – the plants, insects, and birds. The guides are exceptionally knowledgeable about the area and able to answer all your questions. You can even spend as much as half a day out walking!
  • Day and night game drives

    – Vehicle safaris are offered as well. Also accompanied by an expert guide, they’re ideal for covering a lot of ground on safari. The sprawling plains, shaded woods, and welcome water sources of the Central Serengeti are home to all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! Smaller mammals to look out for include giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, a range of antelopes, and many more. And the famous Great Migration is in the area during April/May, affording breathtaking sightings of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles, with the big cats in hot pursuit! Night drives are fantastic for seeing leopard, especially.
