A luxurious lodge in a beautiful location, however the game here is not as good as in the Siwandu area.

OVERVIEW:
This lodge is particularly suitable for those looking for comfortable relaxation well away from the crowds, but is not a place for those looking for plenty of wildlife.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
Azura Selous is located in the west of Selous Game Reserve, well away from the areas most of the tourists visit. It is a high-quality lodge in a wonderful position overlooking the rapids of the great Ruaha River.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Its 12 suites are made of a blend of stone, thatch and canvas and are comfortably furnished in a classical style. Each has a bedroom with king-size bed, lounge, sumptuous stone bathroom with both an inside and outside shower, a large deck and a plunge pool.

The main area is also impressive with a lounge and dining room set above a large pool where guests can relax.

ACTIVITIES:
Azura Selous is the home range for three large prides of lion and their cubs, usually seen daily, and is often frequented by elephants roam through and wild dog that have denned close by. You can witness the wildlife via traditional game drive, on foot during a walking safari or at night on an evening drive.

Please note that up until 2005, this was a hunting area and many of the animals are still rather skittish. We prefer to send clients to the Siwandu area as the game is much better there and recommend Siwandu Camp and Impala Camp as the best options.

Really lovely camp but the quality of game in this area is debatable compared to other areas. Water levels of the Ruaha River also cause problems for boating across much of the safari season. A lovely lodge though; a place to unwind after a game rich safari elsewhere.
