ACCESS & LOCATION:
Knysna is accessed along the N2 highway from Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and everywhere in between, including the airport at George. The most scenic route to The Mount Knysna is via George Rex Drive. As you approach East Head, there is a turn into the Coney Glen area, and the hotel looms into view in Glen View Road.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
It is a modern and well-elevated building, with amazing views out to sea. There is ample parking outside the hotel. Inside, there is a sumptuous lounge with plenty of comfortable seating, an elegant restaurant, a well-stocked wine cellar, a private 12-seater movie theatre, and, at the front of the property overlooking The Heads, a sun terrace complete with heated rim-flow pool! Guest accommodation at The Mount Knysna consists of five categories of rooms and suites – Deluxe Twin and Deluxe Double rooms, and Deluxe, Luxury, and Presidential suites! All are contemporary in style and very well appointed, featuring air conditioning, 42-inch television, Wi-Fi, Lavazza coffee machine, mini-bar, and safe. The difference between rooms and suites lies in the size – each suite option has sufficient floor space to fit a fold-out sleeper couch. All en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, bidet, washbasin, shower, and bath, with the exception of the Deluxe Suite, which has no bathtub. The Presidential Suite has two bedrooms in total – one with a king-size bed and the other with twin beds. This option is ideal for families who like to stay together!
The Mount Knysna is well placed for guests to check out a wealth of attractions, not only in Knysna but also farther afield. The region boasts some beautiful beaches, where you can swim, snorkel, go fishing, or relax and sunbathe for a while. Knysna has a river too, where the birding is particularly good. Other nature activities include hiking along the trails through the Knysna forest – some of the paths take you all the way up into the Outeniqua Mountains, where you can look out for leopard, grey rhebuck, klipspringer, and an assortment of rodents.
There are a few elephant here too! If you would like to walk or ride with the gentle giants, you need only pop to Knysna Elephant Park, conveniently located just off the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.
