"The grande dame of Umhlanga, this elegant beach hotel exudes old-world elegance throughout, with colorful touches keeping the hotel in style. Expansive sea views, luxury, and top-notch service are the catch of the day!"

We would always suggest a sea-facing room at Oyster Box, as the views from these rooms are truly spectacular.

It is very convenient for a first or last stop on a KwaZulu-Natal itinerary due to its close proximity to the airport.

The hotel boasts 86 rooms and suites, ranging from garden facing to sea facing. The classic rooms are the entry-level rooms, with either sea or garden views. The luxury rooms have a balcony and all have sea views. The luxury suites have a beautiful balcony with incredible sea views. If you are looking for the ultimate in luxury, the deluxe sea-facing suite with its stunning sea views and private plunge pool is for you. Finally, the presidential suite is the topmost option for privacy, with its own elevator leading to the accommodation. It has two bathrooms and a large deck area with a private plunge pool.

Oyster Box has thought of everything to make your stay extra special, from complimentary fresh fruit in all rooms, to soap and pillow menus, to beach gear including umbrellas, bats, balls, bags and suntan lotion.

** For families with children under the age of 6 years, we always request a ground floor room or a room without a balcony for safety reasons. If you stay here with us, please ensure this is what you are given.**

  • The main parts of the hotel include two swimming-pool and sun-lounge areas, a private cinema and a peaceful spa.
  • The hotel is very family-friendly and has a kids’ club at certain times of the year.
  • There are two different restaurants for you to choose from and you are only a short walk from the promenade.
