OVERVIEW:
Morukuru lies by Marico River and consists of three different ‘villas’ – Owner’s House, River House and Farm House. Guests have the exclusive use of each property, with the staff completely at their disposal. They also have their own personal game ranger and an experienced tracker who will take them out on game drives. We highly recommend Morukuru for both families and small groups. They will share a memorable and extremely private experience, with every little detail tailored to suit their wishes.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Morukuru is a fabulous lodge located in the far eastern part of South Africa’s Madikwe Game Reserve. Madikwe is a wonderful place for game viewing, including all of the Big Five, as well as many other animals and birds.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT MORUKURU:
Owner’s House is the most luxurious and spacious of the three villas. It sleeps a minimum of two and a maximum of four guests. Inside there are two bedrooms, a lounge, dining room, kitchen, library and wine cellar. Outside there is a 14-meter swimming pool, a romantic treetop den, and even a bath where guests can lounge in comfort under the stars!
River House accommodates up to six adults and four children. In addition to the lounge, dining room and kitchen, there are three double bedrooms and a ‘kids’ room’, which doubles up as a study. This is equipped with a TV, DVD player and board games to keep guests entertained in any spare moments. Outside there is a balcony, wooden verandah, infinity pool and a boma.
Farm House is about a 10-minute drive from its sister properties. It accommodates up to ten guests in five double bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. It is brighter and more contemporary than the other two villas. Like them, it has a lounge, dining room, kitchen and wine cellar. If you want to dine alfresco, there is plenty of choice as the garden includes pools, small ponds and a courtyard.
Food is particularly good here. Chefs will prepare delicious meals, ranging from traditional to nouvelle cuisine, as well as more casual snacks on demand. Guests can even choose the wine they would like to complement their meals from the wine cellar.
ACTIVITIES AT MORUKURU:
There is no set schedule here. Everything is arranged around the convenience of each family/group – when and where they would like to eat, when they would like their game drive and for how long, what they would like to see while out….
Children are especially welcome at Morukuru. There is plenty to keep them occupied apart from game drives. The staff can organize fishing, swimming, baking and other ‘kiddie adventures’. A nanny is available for any parents who would like some time on their own.
