Molori is arguably the most luxurious lodge in South Africa. It sits in a lovely setting with views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Its five suites are beautifully designed and amazingly luxurious. All are extremely spacious, with floor-to-ceiling retracting glass windows, large terraces, and their own infinity pools. The rooms are decorated and furnished in a contemporary style, and dressed with African art and artefacts. The result is stunning.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
It is located in the non-malarial Madikwe Game Reserve in the north-west of the country. The lodge is approximately a 4-hour drive from Johannesburg or a 50-minutes flight on the daily shuttle service to the lodge’s own airstrip.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
All the suites are fabulous. However, the two presidential suites, the Molelo and the Metsi, are especially magnificent. They are huge, with a living room, dining room, library and study, as well as a sumptuous master bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. Whereas the Metsi has only one bedroom, the Molelo has a second bedroom. Both have a personal butler to look after their guests.
The facilities are particularly impressive – an incredible spa with a steam bath and sauna, a fully equipped exercise room, and even a planetarium with an enormous automatic telescope to look at the night sky. The food is delicious, with the emphasis on fresh, organic produce. Brunch can be eaten on the ‘Star Deck’ with lovely views of the waterhole below, while dinner can be served in the formal dining room or alfresco by candlelight.
This is a place where guests can return from an exciting game drive, then relax and be pampered in a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere. It is a very special place, but phenomenally expensive!
Game viewing is excellent here and includes all of the Big Five, as well as the elusive wild dog. Activities include game drives and bush tracking with extremely knowledgeable guides, fishing in Groot Marico River, and for those who are interested in food, one-on-one cookery lessons with one of the internationally qualified chefs.
