The lodge lies on a gentle slope of rolling hills and overlooks the Madikwe plains. It is split into three smaller lodges that are only a few minutes walk apart – Lelapa with twelve suites, Dithaba with four, and the more exclusive Kopano which also has four. (Dithaba Lodge can be rented exclusively by a large group or family.)
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa's North West province. The area is a mix between the semi-arid Kalahari and bushveld.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The lodges are thatched, with packed stonework and wooden beams. They all have spacious bedrooms with a comfortable sitting area, ensuite bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers, and French doors which open onto a wooden deck with a private plunge pool. Madikwe is particularly suitable for families with young children as it is malaria-free. Children are welcome at Dithaba and Lelapa Lodges, but not Kopano.
Game-viewing is extremely good here and includes all of the Big Five. The guiding is also impressive. Meet the Madikwe Safari Lodge guides here and learn more about their fascinating experiences.
