OVERVIEW:
Located in the non-malarial Madikwe Reserve, the two lodges, Safari Lodge and Tree Lodge, are a great choice for families. They were built by Jaci and her husband Jan van Heteren and were designed to be suitable for families wanting an intimate bush experience.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Jaci’s Lodges are located in the east of South Africa’s Madikwe Reserve, which is well known for its excellent game viewing, home to the Big Five and the elusive wild dog.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT JACI'S SAFARI LODGES:
Both lodges have their own ‘main lodge’ overlooking Marico River, with an extremely comfortable lounge, a dining area both inside and outside, and a large deck and boma where guests can gather around the fire.
Safari Lodge consists of eight tent-style rooms with thatch roofs and low stone walls with canvas above. Beautifully decorated in earthy African tones, they are extremely spacious and have ensuite bathrooms and a deck outside. They include two family suites, which are ideal for families or small groups. The Safari Suite can accommodate up to four adults and four children, while the Nare Suite can take up to six guests. Both suites have their own plunge pool, a private guide and a game drive vehicle.
Jaci’s second property, Tree Lodge, sits a little further along Marico River. Connected to its own main lodge by wooden walkways, its eight treehouses are built on wooden stilts, perched high in the trees under a canopy of leaves. They are made from African rosewood and thatch, have sliding glass doors over the whole front of the room, and are decorated in reds and greens. All have their own ensuite bathroom and deck.
ACTIVITIES AT JACI'S SAFARI LODGES:
Madikwe Game Reserve is world renowned as a spectacular Big 5 safari destination, as well as being well-known for unique wild dog and brown hyena sightings. Here, guests can enjoy the bushveld and wildlife through a variety of activities, including traditional morning and afternoon game drives, photographic and conservation safaris, walking adventures and even some time spent in the Terrapin Hide.
