We feel Isandlwana Lodge is a great-value option for a stay in this region of KwaZulu-Natal, but there are some better options that we would recommend for a more luxurious stay. Contact our team of experts for more advice.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Isandlwana Lodge has been built into the side of the Nyoni Rock in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ISANDLWANA LODGE:
There are 12 rooms. All overlook Isandlwana Mountain and have their own private balconies. The rooms have a traditional feel with a modern flair. The main area is filled with history. It consists of a relaxing lounge space, library and swimming pool. The pool has a great view and is a perfect place to relax after your battlefield tour.
*Please be aware that we are unable to book this property for families with young children under the age of 6 years, for safety reasons relating to the balconies/decks/walkways.*
ACTIVITIES AT ISANDLWANA LODGE:
- The biggest attraction in this area is the opportunity to learn about the historic battlefield – and tours are led by very passionate experts. Rob Gerrard is the resident historian at Isandlwana, and he and his team of experts really bring the stories of the past to life. The most popular tours are Battle of Isandlwana, and Rorke’s Drift and Fugitive’s Drift. Both are half-day tours and we suggest spending at least two nights at the lodge to include them in your itinerary.
- If you have a bit more time, there is a whole host of other battlefield tours available – alternatively, you can do some hiking, horse riding or cultural visits.
