We should point out that Timbavati River is seasonal so is dry for part of the year, and that not all of the rooms have river views. Nevertheless, this is a truly stunning location and a camp whose natural environment gives it a tangible character. In our opinion, this is one of the finest camps in the entire Kruger region.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Ngala Tented Camp is the more luxurious of the two properties in the Ngala Reserve. The camp overlooks Timbavati River, giving splendid views of game wandering down to drink.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
There are nine tented suites, complete with ensuite bathroom and gauze screen windows to let the soft breezes waft through. Guests can take a refreshing dip in the rim flow pool, or indulge in a massage in the massage studio.
This area is well known for its diversity of game, including leopard and some rare species such as African wild dog. It is a very good Big Five viewing area that, in our opinion, competes with Sabi Sands. Activities include day and night game drives, as well as short nature walks around the outskirts of the camp.
