"This lodge is run in collaboration with the local community and boasts a convenient location near the renowned Twyfelfontein Rock engraving site. While it may be larger and less intimate than our usual preferences, it provides excellent value for money and serves as an ideal base for those focused on the activities in the area."

OVERVIEW:

Service at the Lodge has been designed with wildlife conservancy and local community in mind, with a portion of monies for guest accommodation being ploughed back into the local area. There are no age restrictions on children and some of the rooms connect, which is fab for families!

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The enigmatic Twyfelfontein area in Western Namibia is home to the popular and unique Country Lodge, hidden away among boulders at the bottom of a beautiful hill.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT TWYFELFONTEIN COUNTRY LODGE:

Within the main area of the lodge, the activities desk provides a clear indication of the exciting time you are going to have here! A curio shop sits next to it – here, guests can browse and buy some wonderful local pieces to take home for family and friends. Walk through the reception area and up a slight slope, and you will be invited into the roomy restaurant area. This has a thatch roof to keep things cool. It is raised up on a wooden deck for seclusion from the outside world and includes mesh protection from the local bird and bat populations while you eat your tasty meals! Just a few short steps away from the dining area is the bar, with tables and chairs available for guests to sit, drink, and while away a few hours. Wonderfully manicured lawns surround the restaurant, while the swimming pool is situated below. The latter feature has a rock at one end, with water flowing from it into the pool. Sunloungers provide a spot for relaxing, perhaps with one of the multicoloured lizards that scamper by for a sunbathing session now and then!

All of the stunning bedrooms at the Lodge have been decorated to match the colours and textures of the area’s rocks and boulders. Cream walls and simple wooden furniture are accented by traditional African prints, on the walls and on the throws! Made of thatch and stone, the guest accommodation is comfy and cool, but should you wish for a bit more air flow there are standing fans, as well as wall and ceiling fans, in all rooms on the property. All en-suite bathrooms include a shower – and if you fancy a hot cup of tea or coffee first thing in the morning, you can enjoy this in the privacy of your own room. At a distance from the standard rooms, there is a VIP suite – this boasts a secure private parking area, a private plunge pool, two bathrooms (including the only bathtub for guests), a kitchen, and an enormous bedroom!

ACTIVITIES AT TWYFELFONTEIN COUNTRY LODGE:

A wide range of activities is available at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge.

  • Excursions include driving trips along the Huab and Aba rivers, where you can track the majestic desert-adapted elephant.
  • Alternatively, why not take a guided hike into the hillside? The boulders and rocks are plentiful, providing an interesting way to spend a few hours.
  • However, for many visitors to this part of the world, the real gem is Twyfelfontein. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous due to its ancient rock engravings as well as the Petrified Forest, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes, is only 4km from the Lodge.
  • All of these attractions and more can be viewed during group and guided excursions – or if you are self driving, the Lodge is in the ideal location for you to take advantage of the wonderful sights on offer in the surrounding areas!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course
