“A fantastic new boutique hotel located in an upmarket suburb of Windhoek. I love this property – it’s easily accessed from the airport, has great dining options on site, not to mention it boasts a top-class spa! It makes the perfect start or finish to any Namibia itinerary.”

OVERVIEW:

This brand-new property has already received some amazing feedback! Located on the prestigious Am Weinberg Estate, the hotel is beautifully designed and has stunning views over Windhoek from its sky deck.

The Weinberg is privately owned and run. With 41 guest rooms, it’s a little larger than what we usually recommend, but no part of the property feels crowded due to its well-conceived architecture. And as there are plenty of room categories, you can easily upgrade! The accommodation is booked on a B&B basis, and the hotel is open all year round.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The hotel is accessed via 30 minutes’ drive from Windhoek’s international airport. It’s situated on the Am Weinberg estate, which lies on the eastern side of the capital city.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT THE WEINBERG:

There are 41 guest rooms, across four categories. All are exquisitely styled. At entry level, there’s the Courtyard Fountain Room, featuring a double bed, bedside tables and lighting, a dressing table, and a wardrobe. Amenities include air conditioning, flatscreen HD TV with satellite channels, a tea-and-coffee station, complimentary Wi-Fi, and en-suite rainfall shower. Full-height windows provide lovely views, and each room has doors leading into the courtyard. The second option is the Courtyard View Room. More spacious than the Fountain Room, these rooms are otherwise similarly appointed and come with a private balcony. The Oasis Loft is larger still and spread over two stories. It offers an en-suite bedroom with a king-size bed or twin beds, a lounge with sofa bed, and a kitchenette. Finally, the Family Loft sleeps up to two adults and two children aged 12 and under. Boasting all the amenities of the other rooms, it’s an excellent option for families!

The communal facilities at The Weinberg are just as well presented. The hotel has some high-quality dining options, such as restaurant The Library, where all-day dining is available in a very sumptuous space featuring plush leather sofas and a cozy fireplace. Guests with an interest in wine will appreciate the property’s wine lounges, where you can make selections from lists of both local and international wines. The Sky Lounge is the setting for sundowners and tapas, and it’s ideal for relaxation at the end of the day. Alternatively, you could simply order a few treats from the delicatessen and either head out on a picnic or get comfy in the privacy of your own room. And if you require a spot of pampering during your stay, you can pop to the on-site 5-star Soulstice Day Spa for a variety of revitalizing treatments including massages, mani–pedis, and facials. The spa includes a welcoming outdoor swimming pool!

ACTIVITIES AT THE WEINBERG:

Many of our clients will be staying here for just one night, at the beginning or end of their Namibia safari. However, if you have time, here are a few things to see and do in Windhoek:

  • The National Art Gallery of Namibia

    – Founded in 1990, this state-owned attraction aims to preserve the country’s art, while encouraging the current art scene. It also offers permanent exhibitions of art from elsewhere in Africa and even from Europe, making it a must-visit for art fans!
  • The National Museum of Namibia

    – This museum is divided between two sites. At Alta Feste, the focus is the colonial history of Namibia, while Owela has some geological collections and showcases aspects of traditional village life.
  • Independence Memorial Museum

    – Positioned between Alta Feste and the Lutheran Christ Church, this museum is North Korean in style, in contrast to the German buildings on either side. Inside, you’ll find information about the anti-colonial resistance and Namibia’s struggle for national liberation.
  • Churches and temples

    – As well as the Christ Church, Windhoek is home to other Lutheran places of worship. You can also take a look at Roman Catholic and Baptist buildings. There are Muslim mosques too.
  • Other architecture

    – From victory statues to castles, the city holds plenty of aesthetic interest. Its Zoo Park is beautifully landscaped and includes a playground, a pond, and an al fresco theatre.
  • Shops, restaurants, cafés, bars

    – As you’d expect, there are lots of shopping opportunities and eateries in Namibia’s capital city. For more information about Windhoek, or anything to do with staying at The Weinberg, please get in touch with a member of our team.
