Situated in Manda Bay, the Lodge is an excellent place to explore the surrounding waters. There is something very special about waking up and having the sea right on your doorstep! The property really stands out as a beach hideaway. With spacious rooms and tranquillity all around you, it is difficult not to fall in love with the area.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Set on the idyllic Manda Island, within the Lamu archipelago.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT MANDA BAY:

The first things you see as you approach the property are the thatched roofs and parchment-colored walls of the buildings nestling among the palm trees. The main lodge houses the lounge and bar area – at high tide you can enjoy your drinks as the waves lap all the way up to the bar! The lodge has open sides, so that you can enjoy the view of the ocean, and a shady dining terrace, built into the edge of the 600-meter sea wall that protects the site. There is a reading room in the upstairs boutique, which is large and spacious with a perfect view of the bay and gardens below. The infinity swimming pool is strategically placed to make the most of the scenery, and there is a games room and lounge next to it. Lamu beds, loungers and hammocks are spaced around the pool area, enticing you to enjoy the feel of the sea breeze and to listen to palms sway above you. It is difficult to picture a more idyllic location in which to relax and unwind!

Although there are three kinds of rooms to choose from at Manda Bay, each is constructed in a traditional coastal style, with palm thatch roofs and woven matting flooring – and all are spacious and comfortable, with private verandas. They also have a queen-size bed, a small drinks fridge, ceiling fans, mosquito netting, and an en-suite bathroom featuring twin washbasins. The Beach Front Rooms boast stunning views of the Indian Ocean. The Sea View rooms are just behind the Beach Front rooms, but still include that gorgeous view. The Garden Rooms are specially designed for families and priced to make your beach vacation more affordable. Manda Bay considered the needs of everyone when they designed the site, so no one will miss out on those views and the luxury and comfort of a first-class vacation!

ACTIVITIES AT MANDA BAY:

Relaxation is everything here – and Bimbi and her team have really put this at the forefront of your stay. Enjoy a sundowner in the natural sand dunes above the lodge, which provide plenty of seclusion for star-gazing. Alternatively, read a good book while you relax in the hammocks and enjoy the sounds of the sea. If you require a little more action on your vacation, there is a comprehensive list of activities for you to peruse. Go for a jog, or walk to the nearby ruins of Manda town. Be sure to look out for the buffalo herd that lives in the area, along with bushbuck, dik-dik, and a wide variety of snakes! The lodge is well equipped for seasonal deep-sea sports fishing and fly-fishing all year round. Other sports include waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing – two qualified kite instructors can be brought in on request. There is certainly enough to keep you occupied – or if you fancy doing nothing, Manda Bay is ideal!
