And Camp Amalinda in the Matobo Hills is the setting for the final part of your trip. This comfortable lodge is located within an ancient bushmen’s shelter and is a wonderful base camp for exploring the area.

Days 1–2 Victoria Falls

On the first day of your trip, you will fly out to Livingstone Town and transfer just over 2 kilometres by road to Batonka Guest Lodge, which is within a quiet suburb. This property is perfect for travellers who would like to experience all the fun of the Falls from a serene location! The communal building is very elegant, featuring pillars and a long veranda for sitting and dining. Inside, there is a lovely lounge and a sophisticated dining room. Everything about the Lodge encourages relaxation, including its well-kept gardens and swimming pool! Guest accommodation consists of 22 rooms, all beautifully furnished and featuring air conditioning, television, Wi-Fi, and tea-and-coffee station. When you are ready to try out a few activities, you need only visit Batonka’s Reception – here, staff members will happily arrange all sorts of adventures for you. From wild watersports to Falls tours to encounters with the wildlife of Victoria Falls National Park, there is no shortage of things to do!

Board basis and activities:
Bed-and-breakfast accommodation, including full English breakfast, teas and coffees throughout the day, shuttle transfers to Vic Falls town twice daily (morning and afternoon), and Wi-Fi.

Days 3–5 Hwange National Park

On Day 3, you will transfer by road to Khulu Bush Camp, which is about 4 kilometres east of Hwange National Park. Khulu has a peaceful location in the Sikumi Forest Reserve. Its communal lodge is an impressive wood-and-thatch structure, housing a comfy lounge, a dining area, and a full bar. One side is open fronted, presenting amazing views of the local vlei (ancient riverbed) and a busy waterhole! You can also enjoy these scenes from Khulu’s deck, which leads down to the property’s plunge pool. A short distance from camp is a fenced fire-pit, perfect for sinking sundowners and sharing safari stories! Khulu has six suites, set up within three chalets. All are contemporary in style and include tea- and coffee-making facilities, indoor and outdoor showers, and your very own veranda for marvelling at the views. Activities here are all about the wildlife! In Hwange, you can enjoy game drives, night drives, and walking safaris. There is loads to see in this national park – all of the Big Five, as well as plenty of other mammals and almost 400 types of bird! Visits to the village of Dete are also available, as are excursions to the Painted Dog Research Center to find out about efforts to conserve these rare canines.

Days 6–8 Matobo Hills National Park

For the last part of your trip, you will transfer by road to Matobo Hills National Park, to Camp Amalinda. This camp has an intriguing location within an ancient bushmen’s shelter! The lounge, library, dining room, and bar are tucked into the rocky landscape, with the wine cellar at a lower level. Outside, there is a fireplace, courtyard, and a very spacious swimming pool! Camp Amalinda’s guest accommodation comprises nine thatched chalets, all individually designed to fit among the boulders on site. Each has a large bed with mosquito netting, wide windows with roll-blinds, and en-suite bathroom with flush toilet, washbasin, open-plan shower, and freestanding bath. The camp provides a wonderful range of activities! You can go on vehicle and walking safaris in the national park, checking out the resident rhino, leopard, zebra, wildebeest, antelopes, and ample birdlife. Black and white rhino tracking is also available! History tours, which include looking at the local rock art, are led by Amalinda’s knowledgeable guides. You can visit a local homestead too!

Full-board accommodation including all meals, bottled water, soft drinks, spirits, local beers, a selection of wines (generally South African), and a full laundry service.

On Day 9, you will transfer by road from Matobo Hills to Bulawayo airport, to connect on to your international flight home.
