This luxury safari skips the busier Mfuwe area and focuses on two of the Norman Carr Safaris camps, Kakuli and Mchenja, before heading to the Lower Zambezi. Here you spend four nights at Old Mondoro, which we consider to be one of the best camps in Africa. Days 1–3 South Luangwa – Kakuli Bush Camp

You begin your trip with four nights at Kakuli Bush Camp, which will give you an authentic and rustic safari experience. The rooms are traditional safari tents with open-air bathrooms and superb views over the Luangwa river. With just four tents, the camp has an intimate feel and personal service from Aubrey and his team. Aubrey has been at the camp, managing and guiding, for many years – he knows the area and wildlife incredibly well.

Board basis and activities:
Kakuli is booked on a fully inclusive basis with all meals, local beverages, and scheduled game activities included. Activities are focused on walking safaris and game drives.

Days 4–6 South Luangwa – Mchenja Bush Camp

From Kakuli you will walk or transfer to Mchenja Bush Camp, which is located on the banks of the Luangwa river under a grove of ebony trees. The camp has just five rooms, each with a Victorian-style bath, and there is a small plunge pool in the main area for those hotter months. The guide/manager at the camp is John. He has been guiding in the area for very many years, so you know you are well looked after!

Just like Kakuli, Mchenja is booked on a fully inclusive basis with all meals, local beverages, and scheduled game activities included. Activities are focused on walking safaris and game drives.

Days 7–10 Lower Zambezi

Next is a flight from the South Luangwa to the Lower Zambezi, which takes about 2 hours. You will fly into the more remote Jeki airstrip and transfer to Old Mondoro. This camp is the perfect balance of adventure and comfort, and we feel it is the ideal end to your Zambian safari. The camp has won many awards for its guiding and service, and it is the sister camp to the super-luxurious Chiawa, which is also located in the Lower Zambezi.

Board basis and activities:
Keeping in line with the other camps in this itinerary, Old Mondoro includes all your drinks, meals, and scheduled game activities. Your activities are always discussed with you on arrival so you can plan them with your guide. You will have the choice of game drives, bush walks, boating safaris, fishing, and canoeing.

On Day 11, you will fly back to Lusaka to connect with your international flight.
