Days 1-3 Victoria Falls

On the first day of your family vacation, you will fly out to Livingstone and transfer by road to Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma. In keeping with the naming of this lodge after two friends of Dr Livingstone, this property has a very friendly feel! It is situated 12 kilometres upstream of Victoria Falls, within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. This setting is away from the Falls crowds yet near enough for easy access to the spectacular waterfall. Communal spaces include a comfy lounge, dining area, bar, and swimming pool! You will stay in a Sussi Tree House – there are 12 of these in total, all raised on wooden decks among ebony trees and overlooking the riverbanks. The interiors are spacious and pleasantly furnished, featuring a well-appointed en-suite bathroom. Activities available for children from Sussi & Chuma comprise game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya (for kids aged over 5 years), Falls tours, river cruises, and a trip out to the local school and village of Nakatindi. There is also plenty to keep the kids entertained at the lodge, while adults enjoy canoeing excursions, watersports, and walking safaris. At additional cost, you can fly over the Falls in a helicopter, visit the World Heritage Site of Livingstone Island, and even check out the Falls from the Zimbabwe side!

Days 4-6 South Luangwa National Park

The second part of your adventure is spent in the South Luangwa National Park! You will fly out here from Livingstone. Sanctuary Chichele Presidential Lodge awaits, a majestic hilltop game lodge in a beautiful forest setting. All communal spaces are exquisite, from the comfortable lounge, to the delightful dining room, to the long veranda where you can relax and enjoy amazing views across the park. There is also a spacious swimming pool! The property has ten rooms, and you will stay in the interconnecting room, which is fab for families. The furnishings are Victorian in style, and the room features air conditioning, very well appointed en-suite facilities, and French windows out to a private terrace! Activities from Chichele focus on seeing the wildlife of the South Luangwa, on game drives and walking safaris. Children aged under 12 years are not permitted on walks, but youngsters of all ages may take part in drives with the lodge manager’s approval. There are lots of other things to do for kids too, such as tracking animals in the lodge’s grounds, making campfires and toasting marshmallows, and stargazing while tucking in to hot chocolate!
