This honeymoon trip starts with three of Tanzania’s most famous safari areas – Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti – before continuing on to the idyllic island of Zanzibar! It’s highly recommended for couples too.

The adventure begins at Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp. This is a high-quality property on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, offering excellent access into the world-famous wildlife habitat! Next, you’ll stay at Lemala Mara, an adventurous mobile camp in the North Serengeti. This camp moves to follow the Great Migration herds. And your last few days are spent at Breezes Beach Club & Spa, on the south-east coast of Zanzibar. Breezes is the oldest and most established resort on the island – it’s a real favourite at YZ!

During your time at Lemala Ngorongoro, you’ll enjoy expertly guided game drives, crater rim walks, and hiking in the region’s forests. Lemala Mara also offers vehicle safaris, with a focus on tracking those huge herbivore herds! A stay at Breezes offers a lot of opportunities simply to relax after your safari, but if you feel like getting active you can get stuck in to plenty of watersports, land sports, and excursions around Zanzibar.

*Please note, this is just one example of a trip we could design for you. We tailor-make safari vacations that take you to the real Africa – no readymade tours or set departures. Do get in touch with one of our experts today to start creating your bespoke itinerary!*

Days 1–2 NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

Wildebeest and zebra sightings, Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

On Day 1 of your honeymoon, you’ll touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, receiving a VIP Meet and Greet. From here, you’ll fly to Lake Manyara Airport and you’ll have a shared road transfer to Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp. This property is very pleasantly located in the shade of acacia trees on the crater’s eastern rim. Its communal lounge and dining areas are housed in a classic mess tent, which also has a veranda where you can relax together and enjoy breathtaking views! You’ll stay in one of the camp’s 12 Meru-style tents, benefiting from a comfortable bedroom with seating area, smart en-suite shower room, and private deck. Lemala Ngorongoro is closer to the crater than any other property in the entire region. This means that, if you’re able to make an early start on Day 2, you’ll be rewarded with an expertly guided game drive on the crater floor when it’s at its quietest all day. Wildlife highlights include all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – as well as numerous smaller mammals and ample birdlife. The camp offers crater rim walks and forest walks too.

Board basis and activities:
All-inclusive accommodation, featuring all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, two half-day game drives or one full-day game drive daily, transfers between the camp and the nearest airstrip, access to Wi-Fi, and a laundry service. Please note, it’s possible to arrange a vehicle safari in Lake Manyara National Park during your stay; for further information about this, do contact a member of the YZ team.

Lemala Mara migration

On your third day, you’ll travel from Lemala Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara Airport via shared road transfer, before flying to the North Serengeti’s Kogatende Airstrip. Once you’ve landed you’ll have another shared transfer to Lemala Mara. Situated amidst euclea trees, near the famous River Mara, this mobile camp offers a superb base from which to follow the Great Migration’s herds. Its lounge and dining areas occupy one large tent apiece, with sumptuous furnishings. There’s a fire-pit too, the perfect place to relax after a day on safari. There are 12 guest tents here – these are similarly appointed to the tents at Lemala Ngorongoro, from a comfy bedroom/lounge space to a lovely private deck. Activities from Lemala Mara focus on viewing the thousands-strong herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles making up the Great Migration, as they push up into the Serengeti’s northern region in search for food. You’ll likely to spot plenty of big cats too, as well as crocodiles lying in wait for a hapless herbivore in the Mara river! And there are hundreds of bird species.

Board basis and activities:
All-inclusive accommodation, featuring all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, two half-day game drives or one full-day game drive daily, transfers between the camp and the nearest airstrip, access to Wi-Fi, and a laundry service.
