Your honeymoon begins in Arusha, at Machweo House & Wellness Retreat. Days 1 Arusha

On the first day of your honeymoon, you’ll touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), receiving a VIP Meet and Greet. From here, you’ll have a private road transfer to Machweo House & Wellness Retreat. This is one of our favourite properties in Arusha! Located just 30 minutes’ drive from the airport, it offers a comfortable short stay before you continue on to other parts of Tanzania. Communal areas are spacious and stylish, including the lounge and dining terrace – Machweo is particularly renowned for the quality of its cuisine! The gardens boast a lawn bar, a lap pool, and a Jacuzzi, fantastic for taking time together to unwind. You’ll stay in a Garden Cottage Suite, an option featuring a four-poster bed, a mini-bar, and an en-suite full bathroom.

Days 2-3 Tarangire National Park

Lemala Mpingo Ridge Bathtub

On Day 2, you’ll be driven from Machweo to Lemala Mpingo Ridge by a private guide, in a private vehicle, who will be available to you throughout your time in Tarangire. Mpingo Ridge is one of the park’s newest and most highly elevated properties. Its communal spaces include a plush lounge, an elegant dining room, and a deck with spectacular vistas over savanna! There’s a swimming pool too. You’ll stay in a tented suite, benefiting from a king-size bed, sunken seating area, and en-suite facilities including inside/outside showers. You’ll have your own deck too, complete with bathtub! From this sumptuous base, you’ll head out on expertly guided game drives and walking safaris. Tarangire is home to four of the Big Five, lots of smaller mammals, and abundant birdlife. You might see the final few weeks of the elephant migration, as huge herds of the grey guys trundle through the park in search of water.

Days 4-6 Serengeti National Park (South)

Kimondo Camp Wildebeest Migration Eliza Deacon HR

Come Day 4, you’ll return to Kuro Airstrip via private road transfer and fly to Lake Ndutu Airstrip. From here, you’ll have a shared road transfer to Lemala Ndutu. This camp has a lovely location on the edge of a marsh and amidst acacia woodland in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, close to the southern border of the Serengeti. Its central mess tent has separate living and dining areas, and is very luxurious – there are even chandeliers! You’ll stay in one of the camp’s 12 guest tents. Each tent is super-spacious, with two double beds and en-suite washroom featuring hot-water bucket shower. Activities focus on following the Great Migration herds, on vehicle safaris. Thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles enter the region in January, with some females of the species calving before the month is out. Other wildlife highlights include predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena, and among the herbivores at large here are elephant, buffalo, and giraffe. There are plenty of birds as well!

Days 7-8 Serengeti National Park (North)

On the seventh day, you’ll have a shared road transfer from Lemala Ndutu to Lake Ndutu Airstrip and you’ll fly to the Serengeti’s Kogatende Airstrip. Once you’ve arrived, you’ll have another shared transfer to Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge. Set in a private concession characterised by big boulders and rocky kopjes, this is one of our favourite value properties in Tanzania! At the highest point of the site, you’ll find the communal lounge and dining tents, both boasting breathtaking views over the North Serengeti. The lodge also has a well-stocked bar, a spa, and a swimming pool. Guest accommodation consists of 15 suites, each offering well-appointed bedroom and lounge areas, en-suite full bathroom, and private deck complete with plunge pool. Activities comprise expertly guided game drives and walks, with a real wealth of wildlife in residence throughout the year.

Days 9-13 Zanzibar

On Day 9, you’ll have a shared road transfer from Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge to Kogatende Airstrip and you’ll fly out to Zanzibar. From the international airport, you’ll have a shared transfer to Zuri Zanzibar, on the island’s north coast. Situated on Zanzibar’s finest non-tidal beach, this deluxe resort includes three restaurants and bars, as well as numerous areas where you can relax such as a library, spa, spice gardens, and infinity pool! You’ll spend your five nights here in a Garden Bungalow, enjoying cosy décor, a spacious private terrace, and well-appointed en-suite facilities. Activities available include plenty of wet-and-wild watersports, dhow boat cruises, spice tours, trips to Stone Town and Prison Island, and excursions into the beautiful Jozani Forest. And of course you can enjoy a little sunbathing, during these final few days of your honeymoon.
