Starting at one of our favourite properties in Arusha, this trip continues on to three superb safari areas – Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti! Travel during our recommended months, and you could see the Great Migration herds.

The adventure starts at Machweo House & Wellness Retreat, an excellent option for a short stay in Arusha before or after a safari in North Tanzania. Next up is The Plantation Lodge. With a fabulous location amidst coffee plantations just outside Karatu, this property is a brilliant base from which to visit both Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater! Finally, you’ll head to Nasikia Naona Moru Camp, which offers comfortable accommodation and a great range of activities in the Moru Kopjes area of the Central Serengeti. All properties provide good value!

During your short time at Machweo, you can relax after your flight, making good use of the house’s spa facilities and swimming pool. Once you’ve arrived at The Plantation Lodge, the focus is wildlife viewing via expertly guided game drives. The property also offers plenty of on-site experiences, such as guided walks among coffee plantations and farm visits. Vehicle safaris are available from Naona Moru too, as are guided walks and hot air balloon rides!

Day 1 Arusha

On the first day of your trip, you’ll touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), receiving a VIP Meet and Greet. From here, you’ll travel to Machweo House & Wellness Retreat via private road transfer. One of our top properties in Arusha, Machweo provides first-class food and drink together with excellent service standards. Communal spaces include a comfortable lounge, dining terrace, bar, and swimming pool! The accommodation option we’ve chosen for group members here is the Garden Cottage Suite, which comes with a four-poster bed, lounge with fireplace, en-suite full bathroom, and balcony with views towards majestic Mount Meru. The property has a spa too, so you can really relax and unwind at the beginning of your safari.

Board basis and activities:
B&B accommodation, including early morning tea and coffee on veranda and during breakfast, and afternoon tea. Activities at extra cost include coffee tours, cultural walks, and excursions into Arusha.

Days 2-3 Lake Manyara NATIONAL PARK, NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

On Day 2, you’ll have a private road transfer from the wellness retreat to The Plantation Lodge, Machweo’s staff having packed up a picnic lunch for your journey (at extra cost). Your private vehicle, complete with private guide, will be available to you throughout your time in the Manyara/Ngorongoro region. On your way to The Plantation Lodge, you’ll enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Considered one of the most scenic parks in all Safari Africa, Lake Manyara boasts a spectacular Great Rift Valley backdrop and of course the beautiful lake itself, a haven for wildlife. Among the highlights here are tree-climbing lions and vast flocks of flamingo! Once you’ve arrived at the lodge, you can relax in the property’s charming farmhouse, which contains pleasant lounge and dining areas. There’s also a shady courtyard and a swimming pool. Members of your group will stay in a Standard Room, which offers a comfy bedroom, seating area with cosy fireplace, and well-appointed en-suite washroom. On your second day here, you’ll head down into the Ngorongoro Crater on vehicle safari. This world-famous feature is home to all Big Five, numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and ample birdlife! On-site activities at The Plantation Lodge include guided walks amidst coffee plantation and farm visits.

Days 4-7 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Your final destination is the Serengeti. You’ll travel from The Plantation Lodge to Lake Manyara Airport via private road transfer and fly to Seronera Airstrip. Once you’ve landed, you’ll have a shared transfer to Nasikia Naona Moru Camp. This property’s name is inspired by the nearby Moru kopjes, and it has a wonderfully elevated setting! Its lounge, dining area, and bar occupy a simple yet very chic mess tent. There’s also a veranda, as well as a fire-pit where guests gather to swap safari stories. Guest accommodation consists of eight tented suites, each benefiting from a spacious bedroom, a separate seating area, a smart en-suite shower room, and a private veranda with views over sprawling plains! Naona Moru is well placed to offer great game drives, walking safaris, and hot air balloon rides. It’s also able to provide Great Migration viewing from June to October, as its central location makes for easy access via safari vehicle to wherever the herds are massing during these months.

All-inclusive accommodation, featuring all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, shared and scheduled game drives, and transfers between the camp and Seronera Airstrip.

On the last day of your trip, you’ll return to Seronera Airstrip and fly back to KIA, in good time for your flight/s home.
