The itinerary involves some of Tanzania’s most iconic sites and features properties that focus on a diversity of activities for children. It combines Big Five game viewing and the Great Migration with the stunning Indian Ocean coastline of Zanzibar. From July through to October, the North Serengeti witnesses the famous Great Migration river crossings, when huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles brave the park’s croc-infested waters. We have included some excellent family-friendly properties, where youngsters aged 8–12 years are offered great rates!

You’ll stay at three fantastic properties – Gibb’s Farm, Lamai Serengeti, and Baraza Resort & Spa. Pleasantly situated among coffee plantations on the edge of the Ngorongoro hills, Gibb’s is a superb base from which to explore both Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. Next up, Lamai provides exceptionally good game viewing from a remote location in the northern part of the Serengeti N.P. And finally, you’ll fly out to Baraza, for watersports, land sports, and some laidback beach time!

Days 1-2 Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Crater

On the first day of your adventure, you’ll touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, for a special VIP Meet and Greet! After that, you’ll fly out to Lake Manyara Airport (50 mins), where you’ll be welcomed by your private guide. This guide and a safari vehicle are booked exclusively for you, and you’ll enjoy your first game drive in Lake Manyara National Park on your way to your accommodation! Once you’ve arrived at Gibb’s Farm, you can settle in to your Garden Cottage. Positioned within the farm’s grounds, this timber-and-stone structure features two en-suite bedrooms and a lovely private veranda. Communal spaces at Gibb’s include a cosy lounge, a dining terrace, and gorgeous gardens to explore. Come Day 2, you’ll go on a great game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater! Kids will be kept on the edge of their seats, spotting all the animals. Other activities available include farm tours, forest walks, and village visits.

Days 3-6 Serengeti

On Day 3 of your trip, you’ll return to Lake Manyara Airport and fly to the Serengeti’s Kogatende Airstrip (1hr 15 mins). You’ll have a shared road transfer to Lamai Serengeti, which will be your base for excursions into the famous national park to view a wealth of wildlife! Your accommodation will be the standard room option, with the family room available on request. The standard here is very luxurious, and each room flows out onto a private deck. The camp’s communal spaces include comfortable lounges and a sparkling swimming pool! During your stay, you’ll have ample opportunities to go on guided game drives in the North Serengeti. This is a superb safari destination throughout the year, although please note that the camp is closed during April and May. Our recommended months are July through to October, as this period sees the astonishing Great Migration river crossings – huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles hurtle through swift-flowing waters in their search for good grazing. Impressive concentrations of predators are at large too, and there’s lots of birdlife!

Days 7-10 Zanzibar

Now it’s time for your beach break! You’ll return to Kogatende Airstrip via shared road transfer and fly to Zanzibar’s international airport (4 hrs 55 mins). From here, it’s another shared road transfer to the brilliant Baraza Resort & Spa. This east coast property is the perfect place to relax after your safari, offering lavish lounges, restaurants, and three swimming pools including one especially for children! Your home during your stay will be a super-spacious two-bed villa, which boasts a private terrace and your very own plunge pool complete with garden views. Activities available from Baraza comprise a great range of watersports, land sports, a culture-rich Swahili Experience, lots of things for young guests to do through the resort’s kids club… and of course as much laidback beach-time as you desire!

On Day 11, you will return to Zanzibar’s international airport via shared road transfer, in good time for your flight/s home.
