  • Day 1 : Arusha
  • Days 2-3 : NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
  • Days 4-7 : Serengeti National Park
  • Guide Price : $6,120 per person
  • Duration : 7 Nights
  • Best Months : Oct, Nov
  • Countries : Tanzania

This trip takes you to two of Tanzania’s most famous wildlife regions – the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti! With the start of shoulder season and short rains, Tanzania offers exceptionally good value for game viewing and reduced rates.

The trip uses three properties. You’ll begin at Machweo House & Wellness Retreat, in Arusha. Next, you’ll travel to Entamanu Ngorongoro, an authentic base camp from which to enjoy big game viewing in the Crater and a lot more besides! The final few days are spent at Serengeti Safari Camp, a smashing little mobile camp that follows the Great Migration and provides some of the best wildlife experiences in the park. Both safari properties are owned and operated by Nomad Tanzania, a company well known for its off-the-beaten-track locations and exceptional guides.

The Crater and the Serengeti are renowned heavyweights in the safari world, both home to all Big Five species – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! Concentrations of other predators and herbivores are very impressive, and the Serengeti plays host to the Great Migration of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles during the time of your stay. Bird counts are high too.

*Please note, this is just one example of a trip we could design for you. We tailor-make safari vacations that take you to the real Africa – no readymade tours or set departures. Do get in touch with one of our experts today to start creating your bespoke itinerary!*

Come Day 2, you’ll return to Arusha Airport via private road transfer and fly to Lake Manyara Airport, before a shared transfer to Entamanu Ngorongoro. This camp is one of the newer properties near the Crater and it’s something of a YZ favourite! Entamanu was built with the aim of minimising disruption to the landscape. We love the simplicity of its mess tent, as well as the breathtaking views both into the Crater and north-west towards the Serengeti, Olduvai Gorge, and Gol Mountains beyond! There are just seven guest rooms, also with spectacular vistas and that authentic safari feel. While you’re here, you’ll enjoy a game drive in the famous Crater, which is home to all Big Five, numerous smaller mammals, and ample birdlife. Guided walks up on the highlands around the Crater rim are available too. And you can enjoy interactions with the local Maasai, for a little culture on safari!

Board basis and activities:
All-inclusive accommodation, featuring all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, a laundry service, and the following activities on a shared basis: scheduled full morning game drives into the Crater, short highland walks (seasonal), Maasai boma visit, bush picnics, and sundowners.

Each of the camp’s guest tents is comfy and spacious, featuring a dressing area and an en-suite washroom including classic bucket shower! Communal spaces comprise two tents – one with lounge/bar and the other for dining – as well as a fire-pit for al fresco meals and sharing stories of all the wildlife you’ve seen that day on safari.
