South Africa Couple Safari (9n) – Value

On Day 1 of your trip, you’ll touch down at Cape Town International Airport, receiving a VIP Meet & Greet. From here, you’ll travel via private road transfer to Four Rosmead. Privately owned and run, this boutique hotel is a bit of a favourite at YZ. It has a lovely location in Oranjezicht, a serene suburb. Communal spaces include a pleasant lounge, breakfast room, veranda, and gardens complete with swimming pool! The accommodation option we’ve chosen for you is the deluxe room, which features a spacious bedroom, well-appointed en-suite facilities, and all the amenities you could desire. From here, Table Mountain is within easy reach – the hotel is actually situated on its lower slopes – and it’s a short drive to many of Cape Town’s attractions, such as the botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch, the V&A Waterfront, Clifton and Camps bays, the National Museum & Art Gallery, and Parliament Buildings.

Come Day 5, you’ll leave Four Rosmead and you’ll have a private road transfer to Franschhoek, for Avondrood Guest House. A beautifully restored Victorian building, this property has a delightful setting on Huguenot Street. Once you’ve arrived, you can take a little time to relax in the comfortable communal areas, which include a large lounge, well-stocked bar, veranda, and gardens with Jacuzzi and swimming pool! You’ll stay in a luxury room, which features an extra-length king-size bed, separate seating area, en-suite full bathroom (with Victorian bath), and gorgeous garden views. Franschhoek’s shops, restaurants, bars, galleries, and museums are all close by, and if you’d like to explore farther afield you could consider a hike or a bike trip. Fishing and golf are also possible – please ask a member of YZ for details.

Now it’s safari time! You’ll leave Avondrood Guest House and return to Cape Town’s international airport via private road transfer, before boarding a flight bound for Hoedspruit Airport. On arrival, you’ll have another private road transfer to Ngala Safari Lodge. This property is owned and operated by luxury safari company &Beyond. It has a charming location amidst tamboti trees and overlooking the Timbavati’s seasonal river, within the Ngala Reserve. Constructed from timber, stone, and thatch, the communal lodge has a distinct safari feel. Its lounge and dining spaces are stylish and cosy, while the outdoor areas feature a traditional boma for meals and a good-size swimming pool! There’s also a spa, as well as a gym. The guest accommodation at Ngala comprises 20 rooms within semi-detached cottages. All are elegantly furnished and feature a private veranda, where you can relax with a drink and enjoy the view. Activities include morning and afternoon/evening game drives, walking safaris, tracking, rhino notching, and photographic safaris too! There is a lot of wildlife to see in the Ngala Reserve – all Big Five (lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo), plus plenty of other predators and herbivores in addition to over 350 species of bird.
