This trip uses two very family-friendly properties! Beginning in the wildlife-rich Laikipia, it continues on to the famous Maasai Mara – specifically Mara North Conservancy, for exclusive experiences of the Mara region.

While you’re in Laikipia, you’ll stay at Ekorian’s Mugie Camp. This property offers comfortable accommodation within a private conservancy, and it has a lovely location on plains surrounded by woodland. And your time in Mara North Conservancy is spent at Offbeat Mara, an authentic camp close to the Olare Orok river. Offbeat boasts lovely views of the river, and also of wildlife wandering by!

Both camps provide an exciting assortment of activities. While at Ekorian’s, you can enjoy vehicle and walking safaris, kayaking, fishing, village visits, ranch tours, and more! Offbeat also offers classic game drives and game walks, as well as cultural visits and, at extra cost, hot air balloon rides.

Days 1-3 LAIKIPIA

On Day 1 of your adventure, you’ll touch down at Nairobi’s international airport, receiving a VIP Meet and Greet on arrival. From here, you’ll transfer to the city’s Wilson Airport and take a flight to Loisaba Airstrip (1 hr) before a shared road transfer to Ekorian’s Mugie Camp. This family-friendly property is situated in Laikipia’s north-western region, and its welcoming communal spaces include a comfy lounge, homely dining area, and a deck complete with swimming pool! You’ll stay in Tent One, which is closest to the main mess tent and has an annex especially for children. Ekorian’s is a superb base from which to explore Laikipia, and there’s no shortage of things for kids to do. On-site activities include volleyball and spear-throwing – and there’s even a trampoline!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, unlimited game drives, night drives, guided walks, kayaking, fishing, bush meals, sundowners, transfers between the camp and Loisaba Airstrip, and a laundry service.

Days 4-7 Maasai Mara National Reserve

After your stay at Ekorian’s Mugie Camp, you’ll return to Loisaba Airstrip via shared road transfer and fly to Mara North Airstrip (1 hr 45 mins). From here, you’ll have another shared road transfer to the classic Offbeat Mara. Once you’ve arrived, you can relax in the camp’s spacious mess tent, which contains pleasant lounge and dining areas, both boasting spectacular river views! Your home during your time here will be a family tent, which offers two interconnecting bedrooms and a shared washroom. Offbeat provides game drives, game walks, cultural visits, and hot air balloon safaris (at extra cost). If you visit during the period from July to October, you can look out for the famous Great Migration, as huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles move up into the Mara region. However, even outside those peak months, this is a dream destination for wildlife viewing!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all meals, all drinks (except champagne), day and evening game drives, bush breakfasts and picnic lunches, visit to the local market, transfers between the camp and Mara North Airstrip, and a laundry service.

On the last day of your safari, you’ll return to Mara North Airstrip via shared road transfer and fly back to Wilson Airport (1 hr 15 mins), before a private transfer to Nairobi’s international airport in time for your flight/s home.
