Well respected as one of Africa’s premier luxury companies, &Beyond offers amazing value especially from March to May and again from October to 20 December. We rate this as one of the best-value luxury safaris on the market.

Your adventure begins at &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. This is the most lavish lodge in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a flamboyant style often described as ‘Maasai meets Versailles’ and breathtaking Crater views! Next up is Serengeti Under Canvas, a luxurious mobile camp that moves every two months or so to keep up with the Great Migration herds. Finally, you’ll stay at Klein’s Camp, one of the finest properties in the Serengeti during peak migration season.

During your time at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, you’ll enjoy expertly guided game drives within the Crater. Walking safaris within the Empakai Crater are available too, and &Beyond’s WILDChild programme provides a great range of things to do for the little ones – it’s offered at all the properties used in this itinerary. The focus at Serengeti Under Canvas is vehicle safaris, but hot air balloon rides are offered as well, at extra cost. And Klein’s Camp’s activities menu is made up of guided game drives, night drives, walks, and community visits.

On the first day of your vacation, you’ll touch down at Lake Manyara Airport. Here, you’ll be met by a member of staff from &Beyond’s Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and you’ll travel to the lodge via shared road transfer. The property has an absolutely spectacular location, right on the Crater rim! It’s split into three camps – North, South, and Tree – and each has super-sumptuous communal lounge and dining areas. Guest accommodation consists of 30 suites, each occupying a structure that resembles a Maasai homestead from the outside yet has interiors reminiscent of a European stately home. Each bedroom features a four-poster king-size bed and leather armchairs, while the en-suite facilities include a freestanding bathtub positioned next to floor-to-ceiling windows with views into the Ngorongoro Crater. The main activity here is expertly guided game drives on the Crater floor, during which you can look out for lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – all Big Five! – as well as numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and ample birdlife. Walking safaris in the neighbouring Empakai Crater are also available, while the WILDChild programme offers Maasai spear throwing, fire making, woodcarving, and more.

Board basis and activities:

All-inclusive accommodation, featuring all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, expertly guided game drives, village trips, and a laundry service.

On Day 3, you’ll return to Lake Manyara Airport via shared road transfer, and you’ll fly to the airstrip located closest to Serengeti Under Canvas, which is a mobile camp that moves throughout the year. A member of the camp’s staff will drive you and your fellow safarists to the property. Wherever it’s set up, the communal lounge and dining areas are housed in a tent apiece, and there’s a fire-pit a short distance away. Guests are accommodated in nine Meru-style tents, each featuring a comfortable bedroom, well-appointed en-suite facilities including a double bucket shower, and a private veranda, where you can relax and marvel at views over the park. Days are spent tracking the huge herds of the Great Migration, on expertly guided game drives. There are lots of other wildlife highlights too, such as the Big Five in some areas, as well as impressive concentrations of smaller mammals, and hundreds of bird species. At extra cost, you can enjoy a hot air balloon ride! Stargazing is another popular pursuit here, and the kids can get involved in &Beyond’s WILDChild programme.

Come Day 6, a member of staff from Serengeti Under Canvas will drive you back to the camp’s nearest airstrip in a shared transfer, and you’ll fly to Lobo Airstrip. On arrival, you’ll be met by a team member from &Beyond Klein’s Camp and you’ll travel to the property via shared road transfer. Klein’s is a permanent camp within a private reserve just outside the Serengeti. Its communal timber, stone, and thatch lodge contains a very pleasant lounge, dining room, and safari shop. Outside, you’ll find well-kept gardens and a fantastic kidney-shaped freshwater swimming pool! There are ten cottages, all featuring a well-presented bedroom, seating area, shower room, and private veranda. In common with Serengeti Under Canvas, Klein’s focuses on the Great Migration, with guests enjoying vehicle safaris in the national park as well as within the camp’s private concession. Night drives and walking safaris are offered in the latter area, providing great add-ons for guests interested in seeing a wide variety of wildlife. Once again, the WILDChild programme is available, and community visits are possible too.

On your final day, a member of staff from Klein’s Camp will return you to Lobo Airstrip via shared road transfer. You’ll fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport, arriving in good time for your flight’s home.
