The majority of our solo traveler safaris to Botswana are based on one of two factors. We design itineraries around lodges charging no (or only a small) single supplement or we suggest trips that have set-date departures, where solo travelers can join a group and thereby get great value.
As anyone who has traveled solo to Africa knows, one of the most crushing issues is the cost. Africa is an expensive destination anyway, and Botswana is probably the most expensive destination of all. So when you include an extra 50 percent due to traveling solo, this often makes the cost prohibitive. We have noticed that some companies support the solo traveler, whereas others avoid dealing with them deliberately, preferring to focus on getting two people in a room (and subsequently making more money!) than looking after the solo traveler.
