“Located to the north-east of their famous Wilderness King’s Pool and Wilderness DumaTau camps, Wilderness Linyanti Tented Camp gives you amazing-value access to one of Botswana’s very best and most exclusive private reserves.”

OVERVIEW:

Wilderness Linyanti Tented Camp is owned and run by Wilderness. Something of a favorite here at YZ, Wilderness operates a selection of safari camps and lodges across Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. This camp offers a classic safari experience. The accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a range of alcoholic and soft drinks, twice-daily scheduled camp activities, park fees, and a laundry service. The camp is open throughout the year.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The camp is accessed via road transfer from the local airstrip. It’s situated in the Linyanti reserve, overlooking sprawling marshes and floodplains.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT WILDERNESS LINYANTI TENTED CAMP:

There are four guest tents, each mounted on wooden decking and nicely shaded under a pitched roof that’s also made of wood. A short ramp leads up onto the deck, where you’ll find a couple of safari chairs, a small table, and amazing views over the Linyanti reserve! Inside, there’s a double bed or twin beds, bedside stands and lighting, a writing desk and chair, wildlife wall artwork, and a couple of storage trunks, in the style of the classic explorers. A discreet canvas partition leads from the main room into the washroom, which has a flush toilet, a large vanity unit with washbasin and mirror over, and a walk-in shower.

Many of the communal spaces at Wilderness Linyanti Tented Camp are also elevated above ground level on a timber deck. In the lounge area, there’s a medley of sofas, armchairs, and poufs, as well as coffee and occasional tables, and various artifacts that once more bring to mind the explorers’ era. The lounge is adjacent to the bar, which stocks a good assortment of local drinks. The main feature of the dining area is its long table flanked by wicker seating, where everyone eats together. You can enjoy al fresco dining in the traditional boma, which is just a short distance from the lounge and dining areas. The fire-pit, with its ring of safari chairs around a central fire, provides a convivial setting for drinks and safari stories, and anyone in need of cooling down in between activities can jump into the welcoming plunge pool!

ACTIVITIES AT WILDERNESS LINYANTI TENTED CAMP:

The camp offers an exciting variety of activities, as follows:

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - This Linyanti reserve is an excellent destination for safari! Its geography includes sprawling plains, mopane woodlands, riverine forests, and ample waterways, making it a popular habitat for all sorts of wildlife. Among the mammal highlights here are four of the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! – as well as plenty of smaller predators and herbivores, for example, cheetah, hyena, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes such as roan and sable. Drives from camp take place during the early morning and late afternoon.
  • Night drives

    - Guests can enjoy sightings of the reserve’s nocturnal animals too! Head out after sunset with your knowledgeable guide, and you might see the likes of leopard, civet, genet, honey badger, and spring hare.
  • Walking safaris

    - Please note, this is usually a dry-season activity. Its availability also depends on whether there’s a suitably qualified guide in camp. Walks are brilliant for getting to know the smaller lives of the Linyanti reserve – the plants, insects, and birdlife. Just four specials for birders in the area are double-banded sandgrouse, helmeted guinea-fowl, African fish eagle, and the rather majestic Verreaux’s eagle owl!
  • Viewing from hide

    - Spending time in a hide is ideal for anyone interested in really close encounters with the wildlife, including big game species. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars!
  • Helicopter trips

    - This activity incurs an extra cost, but we think the price is well worth the breathtaking bird’s-eye view you’ll enjoy as you fly over vast swathes of the Linyanti!
