Gomoti Plains Camp opened in early 2017 and is located in a community run concession in the south-east of the Okavango Delta.

OVERVIEW:
The name comes from the Gomoti trees that thrive on the banks of the Delta’s waterways, a popular habitat for storks and herons due to the cover the trees provide. Gomoti Plains Camp is sister camp to Machaba and similar in style.

ACCESS & LOCATION:
The camp is situated on the edge of the Gomoti river system, in the south-east of the Okavango Delta

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The guest accommodation at Gomoti Plains Camp consists of eight classic safari tents raised on decking to maximise views of the river. The artist’s impression suggests a chalet-style design, featuring a private veranda, with comfy beds, bedside tables with lighting, a seating area, and ample storage space. All boast well-appointed en-suite facilities, perhaps including an outdoor shower. Inspired by the natural surroundings, there is a theme of water and land.

ACTIVITIES:
There are plenty of safari activities available. Game drives take place during the morning and evening, and sometimes you will not need to leave your tent in order to view the local wildlife! Walks are possible whenever a guide is on hand, while mokoro and motorboat safaris take place whenever the water levels allow. There are a lot of animals to see throughout the year.

All of the Big Five are in residence, in addition to impressive concentrations of other predators and herbivores – cheetah, hyena, wild dog, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, lechwe, topi, hippo, crocodile, warthog, baboon, and many more! The bird count is pretty phenomenal too, with over 400 species. And there are 71 species of fish!

"Located just south of the superb Chitabe and Sandibe game viewing areas, Gomoti is the sister camp to the exceptional Machaba in Khwai. Game viewing is on the rise here and with Wilderness Safaris also investing in the area, the future looks bright for the region."
