“Headed by Rob Barber, one of the most respected guides in Botswana, Golden Africa is at the very top level of luxury mobile companies in the country, with a big focus on anthropological safaris, community areas, and traditional safari experiences.”

OVERVIEW:

Golden Africa is perfect for the more experienced safari-goer seeking an adventurous and down-to-earth traditional safari, complete with exceptionally good guiding! The accommodation is really impressive for a mobile operation.

Every guest on safari with Golden Africa will experience a unique and life-changing journey in one of Africa’s most beautiful and varied landscapes – that’s the motto of Golden Africa Safaris. Operating across a vast area spanning Botswana’s finest delta and desert regions, the company has worked very closely with local communities such as the Khoisan and Habu to make its mark within the mobile safari field. Guests can expect high levels of luxury and faultless attention to detail. Both private group trips and some set departures are available, the latter paired with Gomoti Plains. Accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, and the experience is offered from March through to the end of October.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Access to a Golden Africa Safaris campsite naturally depends on the location you’ve chosen for your adventure! Most travelers fly in to Botswana’s international airport at Maun, before transferring by air, road, or water to their accommodation.

?ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT GOLDEN AFRICA SAFARIS:

Every campsite contains high-spec guest tents, positioned a sufficient distance apart from one another to provide ample privacy. All tents are Meru in style, which means that an exterior layer of canvas extends over the inner structure to create a private veranda at the front. On the veranda, you’ll find a couple of chairs, a small table, and amazing views! The spacious interiors feature full-floor sisal carpeting, patterned rugs, and LED lighting. Other furnishings include a super-king double bed or three-quarters twin beds, made up with 400 thread-count cotton percale linen and available with a firm or a soft mattress. There’s also a wardrobe and additional hanging space. The en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, washbasin, and indoor shower.

The communal lounge and dining areas at Golden Africa Safaris’ camps are set up in a mess tent, just a short stroll from the guest accommodation. The lounge features comfortable seating around coffee tables, more patterned rugs, and some interesting reading material. In the dining area, there’s a large table where everyone eats together, tucking in to delicious meals. The fire-pit is another great venue for socializing, with guests and guides sharing stories of their safari day!

ACTIVITIES AT GOLDEN AFRICA SAFARIS:

The activities available at camp naturally depend on your location/s. Golden Africa Safaris operates in the Okavango Delta, Moremi, Khwai, Habu, Savuti, Nxai Pan, Xaixai, Makgadikgadi Pans, Central Kalahari, Linyanti, Chobe, and Victoria Falls.

As a first step, we recommend contacting one of our experts to discuss which destinations you’d like to visit. However, just to whet your appetite, we include a few examples of activities below.

  • Expertly guided game drives

    - This activity is available at most locations. Wherever you’re based, vehicle safaris cover a lot of ground and present exciting opportunities to view a real wealth of wildlife! Some of Botswana’s safari areas boast all Big Four – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Various smaller predators and herbivores may also be seen, such as cheetah, hyenas, jackals, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and an impressive assortment of antelopes. And the birdlife tends to number well into the hundreds of species, from raptors to waterfowl to songbirds.
  • Night drives

    - Also enjoyed alongside a knowledgeable guide, these drives usually start out after sunset. You can have a lot of fun searching for the nocturnal species of Botswana’s reserves, including leopard, civet, genet, porcupine, and the charming pangolin!
  • Walking safaris

    - Walks are accompanied by a guide too. They’re perfect for anyone interested in taking a detailed look at Botswana’s plants, insects, and beautiful birdlife.
  • Mokoro excursions

    - A mokoro is a dug-out canoe. One of the most popular water-based activities in the Okavango Delta, for example, a mokoro ride involves floating along lily-laden channels and enjoying close encounters with wildlife.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
