Super-luxurious and with a stunning location, the only issue with Belmond’s Khwai property is the cost. The Khwai Reserve is busy; when you are spending this much money, you should arguably be staying in the more exclusive private reserves.

OVERVIEW:

Khwai River Lodge is well-run and offers a high level of comfort, yet it will not appeal to those looking for a smaller and more personal safari experience.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Located in the Khwai region of the Okavango Delta, Khwai River Lodge sits on the edge of a forest overlooking Khwai River and the vast floodplains of Moremi Game Reserve. This area is known for a high density of game.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT BELMOND KHWAI RIVER LODGE:

Accommodation is in luxury tents on raised wooden platforms with traditional African thatch roofs and sliding glass doors. They all have four-poster beds, an en suite bathroom and an outside deck where guests can sit and enjoy the wildlife around them.

The central area is raised up on timber with an enormous thatched roof. There is a large lounge, a small library and a dining area. Outside there is a 20m swimming pool on a large deck overlooking the surrounding floodplains. There is also an observation deck under a thatched roof with a small high-powered telescope, an ideal place for guests to watch game.

ACTIVITIES AT BELMOND KHWAI RIVER LODGE:

Activities center around the twice daily game drives, however guests can swim in the pool and there is a spa treatment room where they can be pampered.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
