We feature only two cities in Tanzania – Arusha and Dar es Salaam. Arusha is safari central, the starting point for all northern circuit safaris, whereas Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's thumping commercial heart.
Arusha is situated in the north of the country and it is the starting point for all safaris in the area. Whether you are bound for the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, or Tarangire National Park, you are sure to come through Arusha! It is a very vibrant city and well worth exploring if you have the time.
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, is on the coast. It is the stop-off point on the way to the country’s stunning mainland beaches, as well as the beautiful islands of Pemba, Mafia, and YZ favourite Zanzibar. Dar is equally exhilarating, offering an interesting contrast with the laidback style of beach life.
Gateway to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, this city is safari central and a destination that has come far since its beginnings as a small trade centre for local Maasai. It is also the best place for views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Dar es Salaam, or 'Dar' as it is known, is the commercial hectic heart of Tanzania. There is quite a lot hidden away here, but it is not a city many tourists visit, the majority of our travellers only stay here due to connecting flights.
Situated in the south-west of Lake Victoria, Rubondo Island is a dream destination for travellers seeking an exciting variety of safari activities in a pristine national park!
Mufindi is the perfect place for travellers seeking exciting experiences in the mountains of South Tanzania! A great range of activities is available, and children of all ages are welcome at Mufindi Highland Lodge, our favourite property here.
Lake Eyasi is located about 75 km from the Ngorongoro Crater and 100 km from the Serengeti. It’s an excellent add-on to a safari in either or both of those areas, as well as a great destination in its own right!
