When To Visit Pemba Island:

Located north of Zanzibar itself, Pemba has only a scattering of top properties but a wonderfully off the beaten track feel and laid back approach to island life.

It is not a classic beach destination, as the beaches are not nearly as good as on Zanzibar. However, the diving is world-class and there are some beautiful offshore islands with powder-white beaches. This is a good place for the active. Untouched coral and an abundance of marine life make Pemba perfect for snorkelling, diving and fishing, while boat trips can be taken to explore some of the offshore islands.

There are very few lodges on the island but two that we use are the adventurous (and expensive!) Fundu Lagoon and the traditionally luxurious Constance Aiyana.
