"Raised into old baobabs, some of the rooms at Treetops are spectacular. The location is the only issue for me, as I find it hard to stay outside such an outstanding park."

If glamorous camps are what you are looking for, Treetops is definitely worth a look; however, be aware that the lodge is located outside of the national park and some distance from the best game viewing in the area.

Located just outside the border of Tarangire National Park, ‘Treetops’ is the country’s only genuine tree lodge.

This hugely famous camp attracts its guests primarily due to its unique design – the main area and some of the twenty rooms are raised up into old baobab trees. Treetops is undeniably high end, reflecting the high price it costs to stay here. The gorgeous rooms and main areas are truly beautiful, while the guiding and service suits a lodge aiming at this price bracket.

**Please be aware that we are unable to book this property for families with young children under the age of 6 years, for safety reasons relating to the balconies/decks/walkways.**

  • The camp offers standard game drives as well as night safari and walks.
  • All of this might make you think that Treetops should be part of any trip to Tanzania.
  • Unfortunately, however, there is one big issue with Treetops that we find very hard to avoid – it is situated outside Tarangire! This location means that you have to drive every morning to get into the park.
  • Other lodges such as Oliver’s Camp and Swala Camp do not have this disadvantage, at substantially better prices. They are also much smaller and more intimate camps.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
