OVERVIEW:
Summed up, Entamanu is an astonishingly good camp with a great location. It has one of the very best positions on the crater rim and simply has to be considered if your budget allows. Guiding here is really very good whilst the views out over the crater and access to quiet Maasai villages area reasons to come in themselves.
Entamanu is operated by Nomad Tanzania, and their properties perfectly embody the balance between classic safari adventure, luxury and the highest standards of guiding.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Situated on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, the camp offers spectacular views – not only down to the crater floor, but also north-west as far as the Serengeti, Olduvai Gorge, and even the Gol Mountains. Wow!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ENTAMANU NGORONGORO:
The communal facilities of camp are fairly modest, comprising a lounge and dining area within a central mess tent. The camp as a whole has been constructed with easy assembling and disassembling in mind – all walls, roofs and platforms are put together in panels. No concrete was used – and in fact Nomad instructed its builders to shift the mess platform a few feet, to avoid a small bush! The intention is to minimise disruption to the landscape, an aim that is heartily applauded at YZ.
Entamanu’s guest accommodation consists of six tents, set up either side of the mess tent. Two of these are family units with two bedrooms apiece, while each standard tent has one bedroom with either a double bed or twin beds. All tents benefit from bedside tables and lighting, a comfy seating area with lovely views, a writing desk and chair, and well-appointed en-suite facilities comprising separate flush toilet, twin washbasins with mirror over, and walk-in shower. Additional amenities include a walkie-talkie, insect repellent, charging points, and even an air horn! The crater rim is notorious for being a bit nippy, but every tent has remote-controlled gas heaters to keep the cold away. And soft furnishings such as woven throws and wool rugs lend a very snug feel.
Service standards at Entamanu are simply superb. Food and drink is provided on a full board basis and is both tasty and satisfying! Children aged 8 years and over are welcome – and they are very well accommodated in the family safari tent.

The crater’s soda lake and its tributaries attract hippopotamus, waterbuck, and many more, while the birdlife really is something to write home about, with over 200 species to spot here. -
