Asanja Ruaha is nestled just off the Great Ruaha River, set amongst the Miombo pristine forest and the ancient Baobabs that Ruaha is famous for. The accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, the majority of activities, parking, Wi-Fi, and a laundry service.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Ruaha National Park can be accessed via flight from Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. Asanja Ruaha is located in the heart of the park, set along the main river.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ASANJA RUAHA:
Asanja Ruaha has been constructed to the same design as sister camps Moru and Grumeti, with just eight large tents. Each tented suite is 140 sq metres with its own private veranda and plunge pool overlooking the Great Ruaha River. All suites have en-suite facilities with flush toilets, freestanding baths and outdoor showers.
The communal facilities include a lounge and dining area, housed in a Meru-style tent. Meals can be taken inside the tent or outside if the weather permits, and a short distance from the mess tent, you’ll find a fire-pit for social gatherings.
ACTIVITIES AT ASANJA RUAHA:
Activities from Asanja Ruaha will focus on seeing all the wildlife of the national park, on guided game drives and walking safaris.
- Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest park, covering well over 20,000 square kilometres! Its range of geographical features, such as savanna, woodlands, wetlands, and water sources, supports an exciting variety of mammal and bird species.
- Four of the Big Five are in residence – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Smaller predators including cheetah, hyenas, jackals, serval, caracal, and wild dog can also be seen, and the impressive herbivore count features giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and plenty of antelopes – even rare types such as roan, sable, and lesser kudu.
- Well over 250 bird species have been recorded in the park too!
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
