"A decent 4-star hotel that’s smack-bang in the heart of the action on Cape Town’s waterfront. Slightly commercial, but stunning views of Table Mountain from the bar on the harbour front and good prices considering such a WOW-factor location."

OVERVIEW:

Victoria & Alfred Hotel is owned and operated by Newmark, a company specialising in camps, lodges, and hotels across Tanzania and SA. It’s a pretty iconic building, once the V&A Waterfront’s North Quay Warehouse as established in 1904! Named after Queen Victoria and her second son Alfred, since 1990 the structure has functioned as a hotel offering a sophisticated base from which to explore Cape Town and surrounds. Accommodation is usually booked on a B&B basis, including parking and Wi-Fi. The hotel is open all year round.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The hotel can be accessed via 25 minutes’ drive from Cape Town’s international airport. It’s situated at the heart of the V&A Waterfront, with amazing views of the working harbour and of Table Mountain!

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT VICTORIA & ALFRED HOTEL:

Guest accommodation consists of 94 rooms. Chic and contemporary in style, these come in three categories – Piazza Facing Room, Mountain Facing Room, and Loft Rooms. There are 34 each of the first two types, all offering approximately 40 square metres of floor space. These rooms feature king-size bed or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, and ample storage space. En-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, washbasin, shower, and bathtub. Additional amenities include air conditioning, swivel satellite television, mini-bar, tea-and-coffee station with biscuits, electronic safe, Wi-Fi, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, laundry service (extra cost), and daily newspaper on request. Loft Rooms are smaller at 36 square metres each, but they provide all the amenities of the larger options. There’s 24-hour room service for everyone, and accessible rooms are available for guests with limited mobility – for further details, please contact a member of our team. Interleading rooms can also be arranged for you.

Victoria & Alfred’s communal spaces include a number of stylish lounges, generally with sumptuous sofas and armchairs around coffee tables, some reading material, and a welcoming atmosphere! There are two restaurants. Ginja, which is open to members of the public as well as hotel guests, has a very talented chef who rustles up all manner of local and international dishes for diners to enjoy along with beautiful waterfront and mountain views. You can also pop across to Dash Restaurant & Bar, part of nearby Queen Victoria Hotel. This venue provides lavish meals and high teas, as well as a great range of whiskies and malts! Facilities at another local property, Dock House, are available too – well-equipped gym, superb spa, and inviting swimming pool flanked by sunloungers.
