OVERVIEW:
This country lodge is perfect for a one-night stay in Oudtshoorn, but the obvious downside is that it is right on the road – although the noises of the road do fade as you enter the beautiful gardens.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Rosenhof is on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn, on the way to the ostrich farms and the Cango Caves.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ROSENHOF COUNTRY HOUSE:
This 5-star property has 12 rooms and two suites. For extra privacy, the two suites are located 100 metres from the main lodge and have their own private swimming pools and a patio. All the rooms are spacious, with en-suite bathrooms. The décor at Rosenhof has the feel of a country lodge, with antique furniture for an authentic style.
Breakfasts are served in the breakfast room, which has a view of the manicured lawns. Evening meals at Rosenhof focus on traditional country cuisine, with a touch of cordon bleu.
ACTIVITIES AT ROSENHOF COUNTRY HOUSE:
- The cosy bar area has a fireplace for keeping guests cosy in winter and lounges for relaxing together.
- The large pool area has sun loungers and umbrellas to keep guests cool in the hot summer months. The small wellness centre has a sauna, Jacuzzi, gym and beauty clinic, should you want some pampering.
- The Cango Caves and the ostrich farms in Oudtshoorn are an easy drive from Rosenhof, making this a great place to stop over on the Garden Route. If you have a little longer to stay, other activities include a unique meerkat tour with habituated meerkats, hot air balloon trips, museums – or for a bit of adventure, you can go quad biking or abseiling in the Swartberg Mountains.
