"With a truly excellent location on Cape Town’s waterfront, this is one of the very best 5-star hotels in the city. A range of room types and a high level of service standards throughout mean this property can also offer excellent value. One of our most popular properties."

OVERVIEW:

With a stunning location and easy access to the wealth of things to do in Cape Town, this owner-run classic is a real favourite of ours. Wonderfully luxurious, but at a great price compared with some of the smaller boutique options, Cape Grace perfectly treads the line between being secluded on its own private quay, and just a short walk from the main waterfront attractions. The rooms are beautifully appointed, with views of either the harbour or Table Mountain. The restaurant and bar are so good they’re destinations in their own right. The service is impeccable and the friendly staff are knowledgeable about the city when it comes to arranging activities. Recently refurbished and with top-notch facilities, Cape Grace is a very attractive Cape Town choice – with people often wishing they had more time here because there’s so much to do!

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The hotel has a fabulous downtown location on a private quay, between Cape Town’s famous V&A Waterfront and the city’s yachting marina. Set slightly away from the most touristy part of the waterfront, the property offers both Table Mountain and harbour views that are equally lovely. It can be accessed via road transfer from the international airport, a short 20-minute drive.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT CAPE GRACE HOTEL:

There are ten categories of guest accommodation. All options are spacious and luxuriously appointed, with satellite television, a radio, an alarm clock, international plug points, an iPod docking station, a tea and espresso machine, a mini-bar, a safe, fresh flowers, a selection of books, a hairdryer, and an iron and board. The rooms enjoy spectacular views over the yachting marina, Table Mountain, or the working harbour. En-suite facilities include a marble bathroom with complimentary towelling robes and slippers.

The entry-level categories start with the Luxury Room and the Table Mountain Luxury Room, both of which can accommodate two adults and one child aged 4 years or younger. The next options up are the Superior Room and the Table Mountain Superior Room, sleeping a maximum of two adults and two children. Then there’s the Rooftop Terrace and Rooftop Luxury rooms, which are perfect for honeymooners and travellers wanting breathtaking panoramas over the city. Family-friendly suites are available, with one, two, or three bedrooms, living and dining areas, and a kitchen. These are an excellent option for groups too. Finally, there’s the Penthouse Suite, boasting a private rooftop room, and an outdoor terrace with jacuzzi.

The communal spaces at Cape Grace are every inch as sumptuous as the guest accommodation. Hosted by helpful members of staff, the exquisite Reception Lounge contains plush seating around coffee tables, a grand fireplace, all sorts of artworks, intriguing artefacts, and chandeliers. There’s also a comfortable library, where guests can relax and read, with both local and international newspapers provided. Delicious food and drink is served in the property’s Signal Restaurant, inspired by cultures involved in Cape Town’s history and fused with ingredients from local farms. The Bascule Bar is stocked with some of South Africa’s finest wines, a range of spirits, and tempting cocktails.

A communications centre supplies free internet access throughout the property, and the boardroom is recommended for not only business events, but also private dinners and whisky-tasting sessions! The boutique sells leather goods, ceramic pieces, local paintings, as well as some essential items including toiletries and stationery. The excellent spa, with sauna and steam, is ideal for anyone in need of a little pampering, and there’s a fitness centre too. The large swimming pool is heated, set within a deck, and surrounded by sun loungers – perfect for freshening up in between trips into Cape Town and the many excursions on offer.

*For families with children under the age of 6 years, we always request mesh netting and balcony child locks, or a room without a balcony, for safety reasons. If you stay here with us, please ensure this is what you are given.*

ACTIVITIES AT CAPE GRACE HOTEL:

Cape Grace is very well placed for guests to explore all the attractions of the Mother City. With so much on offer, it’s important to choose and plan your time wisely! The staff at the hotel are great – they can advise and book the best things to do, so you are in excellent hands. The list of activities could go on forever, and if there’s something particular you want to do while in Cape Town (visiting the Winelands or swimming with sharks, for example) then it’s best to chat to one of our SA specialists! But here are some of the favourite things to do:

  • Cable car

     – You could start by taking a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain to enjoy sensational views of the city below. For those who are feeling energetic, there are ways to climb up instead. Yes, we agree, the cable car looks like a great option!
  • Beaches

     – Heading out a little, you can drive around Cape Point and park up at some of the region’s best beaches – Boulders Beach is one of our favourite spots, as you’ll be sharing the beach with the resident penguins!
  • The Waterfront

    – A visit to the V&A Waterfront, just a short walk away, is a fun thing to do – you can check out the area’s craft market, street entertainers, and shopping mall, and take time to relax in one of the many cafés, restaurants, and bars.
  • History and Culture

    – There are numerous tours of the city to choose from. History buffs will love excursions to Robben Island, as well as township tours and a visit to the District Six Museum. The gorgeous gardens of Kirstenbosch make for a lovely outing too, a great place for a picnic.
  • Boat cruises

    – Why not head out onto the ocean wave? The hotel offers private yacht cruises to Robben Island, Cape Point, and Hout Bay, among other locations. Fishing trips are also available.
  • Kid's Activities

    – Children receive an activity pack on arrival at Cape Grace and they can take part in Africa-themed storytelling and gingerbread decorating. Books, games, and consoles are also available – and there’s a reliable childminding service!
