OVERVIEW:
We are delighted to recommend North Island to travellers keen to sample all the splendours of the Seychelles. This truly is the best of barefoot luxury!
ACCESS & LOCATION:
North Island is set on a private island in the heart of the Seychelles, amongst the inner granitic islands.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT NORTH ISLAND SEYCHELLES:
The accommodation occupies much of the eastern side of the island, from the elegant Island Piazza, Library and Boutique dotted around the south-east tip to the eleven private villas spaced along the coastline. On the opposite shore, there is the more secluded Honeymoon Beach, then The Spot – a sala ideal for picnics – and West Beach Bar, which witnesses spectacular sunsets. As far as possible, all buildings are constructed from local materials such as wood, stone and thatch, styled to epitomise ‘barefoot luxury’.
All villas are spacious (450m2!) and benefit from a superb location close to the island’s main beach. Each contains a master bedroom, fully air conditioned and featuring four-poster bed, change room and writing area. En-suite facilities include marble bath and indoor and outdoor showers. A second room is intended primarily as a study, lounge and theatre, but it may be used to accommodate children aged 19 years and under at extra cost. Both rooms boast sliding doors that open onto wonderful views of lawns, then white sands and turquoise waters beyond. A kitchen is situated adjacent to the second room, and finally there is a private plunge pool and sala, perfect for relaxation!
Service at North Island is absolutely impeccable. Perhaps it is illustrated best in the unique dining concept, whereby there is no set menu and guests are invited to express their preferences as soon as they have arrived. All food is sourced locally – from the island itself or fresh from the sea – and fuses local, French and Indian flavours. Wine is brought from extensive cellars, and all is served on Island Piazza with its delightful dining spaces, sala and main bar.
