"Colourful and full of Creole flair, Hotel L'Archipel is a good option for those who are looking for a bit more seclusion and not all the frills. You can even get a boat trip to La Digue straight from the hotel beach!"

OVERVIEW:

Hotel L’Archipel is privately owned and operated. It was constructed in 1987 as a colonial-style property, and it has a more formal feel than other hotels and resorts on Praslin. L’Archipel holds a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor! The accommodation is usually booked on a half-board basis, including two meals daily, parking, watersports equipment hire, and Wi-Fi. A laundry service is available at extra cost.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The hotel can be accessed via 20 minutes’ flight from Mahé, followed by 30 minutes’ road transfer from Praslin’s airport. You can also travel to the island by ferry, from Mahé or La Digue. From the jetty, the drive to L’Archipel takes just 10 minutes. The hotel has a lovely location in the north-east of Praslin, on a hillside above the beautiful beach of Anse Gouvernement. It’s surrounded by tropical gardens.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT HOTEL L'ARCHIPEL:

Guest accommodation consists of 32 rooms and suites, in four categories – Hillside Superior Room (5), Deluxe Room (18), Senior Suite (7), and Family Suite (2). All are positioned on the hillside. Amenities common to all four options comprise air conditioning, IDD telephone, flatscreen television, tea-and-coffee station, mini-bar, safe, and hairdryer. The difference between categories is mainly the size – Superior and Deluxe rooms provide 60 square metres of floor space, while the Senior Suite has 65 and the Family Suite 120! Additionally, Superior and Deluxe rooms vary in style, as the latter type has been redecorated and feels much more contemporary. The Superior Room can sleep a maximum of two adults and one child, whereas the Deluxe Room is suited to two adults. Each of these rooms is found in a wood-and-stone cottage and benefits from a reasonably spacious en-suite washroom with either bath or shower. The Senior Suites either occupy a structure known as ‘Plantation House’, which is fairly central within the site, or they are dotted around the lower levels of the hillside. All seven of these suites can sleep up to three travellers, and they feature a full bathroom and a terrace with gorgeous sea views. Finally, each Family Suite is sufficiently spacious for two adults and two children, and boasts a full bathroom, a separate seating area, and a private veranda where you can tuck in to delicious food and drink while admiring the scenery!

Hotel L’Archipel’s communal areas are mostly housed in a grand central building. This features elegant terraces and impressive arches over its windows. Adjacent to Reception, there’s a comfortable lounge, but the focus of the structure’s lower and upper storeys is its superb restaurants. At ground level, there’s La Gigolette, offering a pleasant setting for breakfast buffets and dinners, as well as à la carte lunches that are often enjoyed on the beach! Both Creole and international dishes are available. Upstairs, La Feuille d’Or provides a more formal dining experience, and it’s conveniently positioned next to L’Archipel’s bar and cocktail lounge. The infinity pool is found up here too, with spectacular views of the ocean! You can also while away a few hours in the gardens or down at the property’s convivial beach bar. Live entertainment is presented twice weekly, and it usually includes joyful moutya dancing.

**For families with children under the age of 6 years, we always request a ground floor Family Suite, Superior Suite or Superior Room, or a room without a balcony for safety reasons. If you stay here with us, please ensure this is what you are given.**

ACTIVITIES AT HOTEL L'ARCHIPEL:

The hotel offers an exhilarating range of activities!

  • The on-site watersports centre supplies canoes, snorkelling equipment, and stand-up paddleboards free of charge.
  • Of course you can enjoy relaxing on the beach too, as well as sea swimming and taking strolls along the soft white sands.
  • L’Archipel also owns two boats. The Lady Caroline, a power boat for a maximum of 16 passengers, is used for fishing trips, cruises, and excursions for couples, while the smaller Makwa is fantastic for fishing too.
  • Staff members are happy to arrange lots of other outings around Praslin, to some of the island’s finest beaches, to the gorgeous nature reserve Vallée de Mai, and to a neighbouring resort for golf on an 18-hole championship course.
  • You can even take a look around some of the neighbouring islands, for example Mahé, La Digue, Félicité, and Curieuse.
