When To Visit Sossusvlei:

"This high-quality camp is an excellent choice for those seeking to fully immerse themselves in the desert landscape. However, it's important to note that the camp requires a minimum stay of 3 nights with set arrival and departure days, which may pose a challenge when trying to fit it into an itinerary, particularly during the high season when availability is limited."

OVERVIEW:

We have always been huge fans of the Wolwedans portfolio of camps. This award-winning collection is home to three camps at different levels of luxury, each with their own unique style. Boulders camp is its most recent addition and located in the quietest part of the reserve.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

This camp is located in the private Namibrand Nature Reserve in south-west Namibia.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT WOLWEDANS BOULDERS CAMP:

Wolwedans Boulders has only four rooms and is the most intimate of all the Wolwedans camps. The rooms are large tented structures raised up onto wooden decking. They are very high quality, with the emphasis on the natural environment and the huge granite boulders that lie behind camp.

ACTIVITIES AT WOLWEDANS BOULDERS CAMP:

Guests should not confuse this area with the huge dune fields at nearby Sossusvlei – it is far more sophisticated, subtle, and overall, it is a substantially quieter experience.

  • Trips to Sossusvlei are not included in the rate and are not encouraged – it is over a two-hour bumpy ride each way!
  • Activities at Wolwedans are based around exploring the private reserve by vehicle and also on foot.
  • The area also offers the best game driving in the region, though even this area is not comparable to the likes of Etosha.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course
