N/a’an ku sê Lodge is owned and operated by the N/a’an ku sê Foundation, an organisation dedicated to conservation. The foundation’s projects include caring for injured and orphaned animals, and improving the health of Namibia’s San Bushmen. The lodge was awarded a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor last year (2017).
ACCESS & LOCATION:
The property can be accessed via road transfer from Hosea Kutako International Airport, a half-hour journey. N/a’an ku sê has a lovely location in the shade of camelthorn trees, within a game reserve covering 3,200 hectares! Free parking is available on site.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
Guest accommodation consists of six chalets and villas, constructed from timber, stone, glass, and thatch. Each chalet contains a spacious bedroom with air conditioning, large twin beds, storage space, and en-suite facilities comprising flush toilet, washbasin, and shower. At the front of every chalet, there’s a private veranda boasting beautiful views over the reserve! N/a’an ku sê’s villas are equally well appointed, benefiting from two bedrooms, a lounge area, a fitted kitchen, and a veranda too. Villa guests can choose between self-catering and ordering meals from the main lodge. The décor throughout the accommodation is pretty special – luxurious bedding, sumptuous floor rugs, and glamorous lighting come as standard here!
N/a’an ku sê’s communal building is made out of the same materials as the chalets and villas, and it’s connected to the guest accommodation along well-kept pathways. Interiors include a central lounge featuring comfortable seating around coffee tables, and fabulous views from the windows! The elegant dining room is the setting for delicious African cuisine, using locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Kitchen staff are happy to arrange bush picnics and romantic al fresco evening meals. The bar is open from 10:00 to 02:00, and among the wines it offers are conservation-friendly vintages from partner winery Neuras Wine and Wildlife Estate. Guests can also enjoy tucking in to meals on the lodge’s dining decks, adjacent to the property’s clear blue swimming pool – effectively two pools, with a little waterfall between them!
An amazing range of activities is available from N/a’an ku sê Lodge! Many are focused on exploring the reserve, for example on bush drives, nature walks, and horse rides. Wildlife you can expect to see here includes big cats such as lion, leopard, and cheetah, as well as smaller predators, among them hyenas, black-backed jackal, caracal, and wild dog. The herbivore count features both Burchell’s and Hartmann’s mountain zebras, as well as giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, and common duiker. There are baboons and vervet monkey too, plus a number of bird highlights including white-backed vulture. N/a’an ku sê owns a cheetah sanctuary, and guests are able to visit to spend time with a few habituated felines. Carnivore feeding tours are also available, as are walks with caracal and baboon! Back-of-house tours offer opportunities to learn about the running of the reserve and sanctuary. And you can get to know the local San Bushmen community too, through village visits, hunting trips, nights out, and stories under the stars.
