Leylandsdrift Camp is located in central Kaokoland in northern Namibia and forms part of the renowned Schoeman’s Skeleton Coast flying safari. We believe it is one of the finest experiences available in Africa today.

OVERVIEW:

Leylandsdrift, along with Kuidas Camp and Kunene River Camp, are booked as part of the flying safari and are some of the most adventurous camps in the country and some of our favourites in Africa. They are contenders for best camp experience anywhere.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The three tented rooms are set on the banks of the Hoarusib River, in the Skeleton Coast north area of Namibia.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT LEYLANDSDRIFT CAMP:

Leylandsdrift Camp is a simple camp, with just three tented rooms that are enclosed by reed and thatch. The camp aims at the adventurous highend market. Do not expect luxury here, that’s completely missing the point. The camp is very simple – it is the experience that you are travelling here for. All of this may well put you off staying here…..but the reality is that safaris here are led by the best guides in the entire country, and the experience has been described by our clients as the very best of it all. We can only say that safaris do not come cheap here, but my God, are they good!

The rooms have proper beds yet share communal toilets – there are two in camp.

ACTIVITIES AT LEYLANDSDRIFT CAMP:

Activities from camp explore the region by any means possible. Game drives to see the area's desert elephant are the main attraction, and are complemented by some fantastic walking areas. This camp also has one of the best Himba experiences that we know of in Namibia.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
