OVERVIEW:
Most of the beach lodges we feature in Mozambique are luxurious places where guests can relax and be pampered with five-star service. Guludo Beach Lodge is rather different, somewhere where you help yourself from the bar rather than click your fingers for a gin and tonic. We like it; it is natural and unspoiled with a wide choice of activities; it offers an excellent combination of relaxation and adventure.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
Located in Mozambique's Quirimbas National Park, Guludo Beach Lodge lies on a deserted 12 mile stretch of beautiful sandy beach. It is remote here, wild and untamed.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT GULUDO BEACH LODGE:
The lodge is extremely comfortable rather than luxurious. It is eco-friendly and has won several awards for its design. It has been built, furnished and decorated entirely with local materials from nearby villages. The central area is thatched as are the nine bandas (suites) for guests. They all have beautifully airy bedrooms and a large open-air bathroom with washbasins, a huge shower and a fabulous view. Two bandas also have an adjoining living room, so could be suitable for families. The food is fresh and locally sourced.
ACTIVITIES AT GULUDO BEACH LODGE:
- The setting is fabulous – the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean lapping onto miles of white sandy beach, untouched reefs home to thousands of tropical fish…… This is a place especially good for diving and snorkelling.
- The Lodge has a PADI dive centre so is an excellent base for diving. However, there are other options to keep guests busy.
- They can take trips in a dhow or motorboat, go island-hopping, track elephants by moonlight, visit local villages to watch the children playing football; they can even get involved in local community projects, such as helping with the building of a school or a well.
- Alternatively, they can simply lie out on a lounger soaking in the relaxing atmosphere, while watching the occasional whale pass by between July and December.
