Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa

  • In Mozambique’s southerly Bazaruto Archipelago
  • A resort-style hotel with numerous activities
  • Thirty beach chalets and 14 luxury villas
  • Ideal for families with children
"Big, bolshy, and a bit commercial, Anantara Bazaruto might not have the service levels of Azura or Benguerra, but the beach is superb and costs much more competitive. A good option for luxury at a decent price."

Owned by Rani Resorts, Anantara Bazaruto and nearby Bazaruto Lodge are the only lodges in the area that are part of a commercial hotel chain. We use this resort relatively rarely, because our clients tend to prefer the smaller lodges on Benguerra Island such as Azura Beach Lodge, Marlin Lodge or Benguerra Lodge. However, if a resort-style hotel is what you are after, then you should look no further – this place is excellent. It is especially ideal for families, particularly those with young children.

Previously called Indigo Bay Island Resort, Anantara Bazaruto is located in Mozambique’s southerly Bazaruto Archipelago.

With an impressive array of activities as well as nearly fifty rooms of various types, this is the largest hotel in Bazaruto, and one that is very different from the majority of Mozambique’s beach hotels. However, the beach here is as good as anywhere on the island and nothing can be taken away from how slickly this hotel operates.

If facilities are what you are looking for, without any doubt this is the place to stay. Anantara Bazaruto has all the normal diving, snorkelling and fishing activities to be found in the area, as well as a fully functional watersports centre complete with jet skis, wake boards and windsurfs. There is also tennis on offer, as well as the area’s best spa and even a mini golf course! It even has satellite television and a Kids Club.
