ACCESS & LOCATION:
The Residence is located along a mile of wondrous white-sand beach in east Mauritius, an area resplendent in tropical gardens and serene lagoons. It is 48km from the airport, which is on the south of the island.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The centrepiece of The Residence is without doubt its elegant main building, designed to resemble a turn-of-the-century plantation house. This overlooks the spacious freshwater swimming pool and is home to eateries The Dining Room and The Verandah, in addition to The Bar. The Gourmet Kiosque is close to the swimming pool too. A third restaurant, The Plantation, is positioned on the shores of the Indian Ocean and boasts amazing views. The Sanctuary spa is also adjacent to the ocean and features a pavilion in its gorgeous gardens. And the Kids Club, with architecture inspired by a sugarcane plantation house, is just a few small steps from the beach.
Guest accommodation at The Residence comprises seven categories of rooms and suites, with options ranging from garden view to ocean view to ocean front. Please contact us for more information. All have one bedroom, but interconnecting rooms are available for families. Amenities include air conditioning and overhead fan, satellite TV and DVD player, complimentary Wi-Fi, mini bar, 24-hour in-room dining and personal butler on request. Additionally, all feature a private balcony or terrace to maximise views of the gardens or ocean – and many boast a marble bathroom with separate bathtub and shower cabin.
The Residence offers an excellent assortment of activities. Complimentary watersports include waterskiing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking and glass-bottom boat trips, with guests paying extra for scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and catamaran cruises. Land sports consist of tennis, volleyball, aerobics and ziplining. There is an 18-hole championship golf course near the resort, while a variety of cultural excursions may also be arranged – for example, to UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Cultural Landscape, a craggy oceanside mountain once home to runaway slaves. Back at The Residence, The Planters Kids Club has plenty for children to do too – snorkelling, hiking, cooking and pony riding, to name just a few!
