OVERVIEW:
The Cliff is the latest addition to the properties in Lake Nakuru National Park, having opened in April 2018. It’s owned and operated by the same group behind Entim Mara, a classic camp that scores pretty highly with YZ! The accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals and a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks. Travellers aged 12–16 years sharing with their parents incur 75 per cent of the per person rate per night.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
The property is usually accessed via 2 hours 30 minutes’ flight from Nairobi. It has a breathtaking location on top of a cliff above Lake Nakuru!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT THE CLIFF:
Guest accommodation consists of ten tented rooms, all positioned on sturdy foundations at the edge of the cliff. The interiors are spacious, and very stylish too. Furnishings include a double bed, bedside tables and lighting, a coffee table, and ample storage space. From the bedroom, double doors lead out onto a private deck, which boasts breathtaking 180-degree views over the lake! To the right of the bedroom, there’s the en-suite washroom, with separate toilet, twin washbasins with wide mirror over, shower, and a lovely big bathtub. Bathrobes, slippers, and a hairdryer are all supplied. Additional amenities comprise a mini-bar, tea-and-coffee station, safe, Wi-Fi, and adaptor plugs on request.
The communal areas at The Cliff are just as stylish as the guest rooms. The lounge contains comfortable sofas and armchairs around coffee tables, with the property’s well-stocked bar positioned conveniently close by. In the restaurant, guests tuck in to exquisitely prepared breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, all the while marvelling at views across the lake. The Cliff also has a well-equipped gym for fitness fans, and a high-class spa for anyone in need of a little pampering! In the grounds, there’s a sparkling swimming pool surrounded by sunloungers, perfect for relaxation between activities. And for business clients, there’s an excellently appointed conference room.
ACTIVITIES AT THE CLIFF:
- The Cliff offers expertly guided game drives and birdwatching. Open-sided Land Cruisers start out from camp in early morning or late afternoon. Lake Nakuru National Park contains a real wealth of wildlife! Four of the Big Five live here – lion, rhino, leopard, and buffalo. Smaller predators in residence include cheetah, hyena, and wild dog, while the herbivore count features giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and waterbuck. The park’s acacia forest contains vervet monkey and olive baboon, while the lake attracts loads of hippo!
- There are plenty of bird highlights too, not least vast flocks of greater and lesser flamingos. You can also look out for great white pelican, grey crowned crane, and white-fronted bee-eater – in all, there are approximately four hundred types of feathery friend here. Migratory species can be seen from November to April inclusive, so this is the best time to travel if you’re a particularly keen birder!
