A family home that has been lovingly restored and refurbished to create a beautiful boutique hotel, House of Waine has a timeless elegance about it. The communal areas include a relaxing lounge area, a comfortable bar for a quiet drink, and a sophisticated restaurant. There are also ample meeting facilities for business clients. The House’s conference room can accommodate up to twenty people. It is fully air conditioned and has a PA/CD audio system, LCD projector, complimentary internet, hot beverages and water – and even free mints too! Adjoining the conference room is a private terrace where food is served – with its views of the House’s landscaped gardens, this is a fantastic bonus feature. All 11 guestrooms at House of Waine are individually decorated and each has a special name – for example, ‘Safari’, ‘Ziwa’ (Swahili for ‘lake’), ‘Tembo’ (‘elephant’). The style is modern, with clean edges and finishes, but a splash of Africa resides in many of the colour schemes and artwork. All bedrooms are fully air conditioned and contain a double bed, in addition to bedside tables with lamps, coffee table and comfy seating, tea- and coffee-making facilities, direct dial telephone, flatscreen television, safe, complimentary Wi-Fi, and gorgeous fresh flowers. The en-suite facilities consist of flush toilet, washbasin, bath, and separate shower. The rooms also come with a hairdryer, a magnified makeup mirror, and eco-friendly free toiletries. This really is very high-spec accommodation!

  • If hiking is your thing, the dramatic Ngong Hills make for a great daytrip – and there are lots of opportunities to see wildlife as both the Langata Giraffe Sanctuary and the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage are close by.
  • And there is also Nairobi National Park, its sprawling plains and riverine forests home to all Big Five animals as well as giraffe, zebra, gazelle, eland, impala, baboon and hippo. The birdlife is just as impressive, with over 500 resident and migrant species! Altogether, there is a great mix of things to do.
