"A decent option for affordable trips to the Mara. Reliably good service standards and guiding see Entim as a good choice in a highly competitive area. Splashing out for Naibor is often my suggestion to clients."

OVERVIEW:

We love a classic safari camp. If first-rate wildlife viewing is your priority, Entim comes highly recommended!

ACCESS & LOCATION:

It nestles on the edge of riverine woodlands and boasts amazing views down to the Mara River and over acres of plains. The camp has been designed to provide the best sightings of the wildebeest Great Migration – and sure enough, from July to October each year, the River and surrounding grasses are choc-a-bloc with the famously huge herds!

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ENTIM MARA:

The communal areas of Entim Camp consist of a lounge tent and a guest tent, with a fire pit not too far away. Both tents are open fronted, for guests to enjoy the spectacular views. The lounge tent is sumptuously furnished – there are large leather sofas and armchairs positioned around chunky coffee tables, with the odd storage chest and some wildlife artwork contributing to a classic safari feel. The palette is very earthy/neutral, with some interestingly patterned cushions and, at night, the golden glow of lamplight. The tent also contains a small library, so it is the perfect place to curl up with a book – assuming you can tear your eyes away from the safari scenes outside! The dining tent is equally elegant, with separate tables laid beautifully and director’s chairs providing sufficient comfort. There is a small bar here too. Finally, the fire pit is situated just a few metres from both tents and is a great gathering site for both early morning beverages and evening sundowners!

Entim has just ten guest tents, connected to the communal areas via stone-lined earth paths. These offer breathtaking vistas from their verandas, each furnished with a table and a couple of chairs. Inside, each tent has a spacious wood-framed double bed or twin beds, two bedside tables with lamps, a storage chest or chest of drawers, and hanging space for clothes. The en-suite facilities, at the back of the tent, comprise flush toilet, washbasin and shower. Overall the accommodation is basic and very comfortable – the essence of safari style!

ACTIVITIES AT ENTIM MARA:

  • The main activity at Entim is game drives. You do not even need to leave camp to see numerous predators and herbivores roaming the savanna, but if you do head farther into the Reserve you will be richly rewarded! All Big Five animals live here, as do cheetah, hyena, serval, jackal, giraffe and numerous types of antelope.
  • The birdlife is also impressive – ostrich, eagles, herons, pelicans and crowned crane are just a few of the over 470 migrant and resident species! And if you are in camp during the months of the Great Migration, you are in for a real treat as the wildebeest and zebra herds come pounding through.
  • Another activity is visiting a Maasai homestead – a wonderful opportunity to learn all about the local culture. If this interests you, we recommend booking a little extra time at camp to ensure you can fit everything in!
  • The homestead visit is made in the company of Entim’s knowledgeable guides, so you are guaranteed a really interesting trip. Of course, the guides’ knowledge also comes to the fore during game drives – they are true experts in bringing you great game sightings and answering all your questions along the way!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
