somalisa 189

For the next two nights of your trip, you will transfer by road to Somalisa Camp, in Hwange National Park. This property has a lovely location, amidst a grove of acacia trees. The mess tent is open sided, providing beautiful views of the Kennedy Vlei. The Vlei is a dried-up watercourse and it is not uncommon for elephants to come up close to Somalisa to drink from the camp’s own plunge pool! The elephant theme continues with the positioning of a few guest tents along a path well trodden by the gentle giants. All accommodation is very comfortable, with teak furnishings and deck, plus en-suite facilities including indoor and outdoor showers and even a copper slipper bath! Activities centre on game drives and walking safaris – you can expect to see all Big Five mammals, in addition to hyena, kudu, and plenty of birdlife. Village visits are possible too!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all safari activities, meals, selected house alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, and a laundry service.

Days 6-8 Mana Pools National Park

The final part of your trip is spent in Mana Pools National Park, at Kanga Camp – you will fly here from Hwange. This property is situated in the Kanga Pan, a remote western region. The main lodge consists of various wooden platforms on different levels, all under a canvas roof. At the top is the lounge and bar, while the lower areas are home to a dining space and a fire pit. There is a deck too, complete with plunge pool! Kanga’s six guest tented chalets are also raised above the ground. All are comfortable, with a pleasant open-plan feel. Due to the impressive numbers of animals roaming around camp, you do not need to leave the property to enjoy some excellent wildlife watching! This pastime is known as ‘armchair safari’. However, the game drives and walking safaris available here are of a very high standard and well worth leaving your comfy seat! You can also go on a ‘sleep-out’ safari, travelling a mile to a site where platforms have been secured high up among wild fig trees. One set of platforms has a nicely made-up bed under mosquito netting, while a flush toilet and bucket shower are available below. Featuring a three-course dinner and hearty breakfast the following morning, this experience is highly recommended! It really is a treat, to spend a night on safari under the stars.

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all meals, most safari activities, soft drinks, selection of house alcoholic drinks, and a full laundry service.

On Day 9, you will fly out of Mana Pools to Harare Airport, to connect on to your international flight home.
